Vehicle Detail

I have owned this car since 1982 and have never put many miles on it. It is an original '71 RT 340, but has a '70 340 engine in it now. The '70 is interchangeable with the '71 performance-wise; it wasn't until '72 that Chrysler started to reduce performance and engineering, e.g.: end of the Hemi - which makes the '70-'71 Challengers more desirable. The 340 was the performance small block for Chrysler in those years, and was a special order over the standard 383 for the RT. It came factory with the rear window louvers (rare) and front and rear spoilers. It came in the original orange, and stripping is correct. It had been repainted in the early '80s, and had some patch-panels put in the lower rear quarters; but it was very well done. There are a few minor blemishes - some rust bubbling on top of right front fender that has always been there, and few minor berry stains. The car has been in storage since the early '90s, and one year during a very hard rain storm, about 10 inches of water came up inside the building and got into the small vent on the axle housing. I have had it running and have driven it since then (less than a mile) but the rear axle had gotten some water in it, and I never got around to fixing it, though it may get buy with just a fluid change. The water came up to maybe an inch or two inside the car and the carpet got wet, but it dried quickly, and there was no other damage. There's new control arm bushings and a new alignment and the rubber has never been changed since I've had it. There is a hole in the headliner fabric that was always there that I keep covered with the visor. The original rally dash is in good shape. It is a 2-tag car and I have always tried to keep it as original as possible; and even with the original mechanical ignition, it has always been a very strong runner. With very little work, it could be put back into one of the classiest rides on the street. I would be willing to make delivery for an additional charge. On Apr-28-11 at 19:19:45 PDT, seller added the following information:Addition to description: I found some rust holes on the front driver's and passenger sides when I peeled back the carpet that I did not know about - I've included some pictures. The car had had some rust issues in the past when it was repainted, as I noted in the original description; I am sure that these are left over from that and not the water that got in. The back is sound.
