Vehicle Detail
The Car: For sale is a 2004 Subaru WRX STI with a Crawford 2.65 liter stroker long block. This is the same engine in Ken Blocks Subaru, shown in this video. 57,300 miles on the chassis. 25k miles on the engine. Southern car - NO RUST. It has never seen a northeast winter. The Story: I purchased this car from a Crawford certified vendor in Charleston, South Carolina. He is the owner of a performance shop and has done 95% of the work on the car. I had the car shipped up from the south. It's first stop when in New York was to EFI Logics, where I had the tune adjusted for the change in atmospheric pressure / sea level, etc. (see the video below). At 20psi on 93 octane the car put down 395 hp at the wheels. Chris at EFI said that if anyone wants to make this a true race car, they can run race gas and safely up the boost. He estimates 500 wheel horsepower at least on his very conservative dyno. This Car is Awesome! Why Would You Sell This?!!: I have no choice. My wife resigned from her job to start a business. We need the cash to fund her new venture. Not to mention I'm paying $300 per month for indoor parking. If it wasn't for this business, I would not be selling. I'm going to miss this thing. What's the Catch??! No catch. This car is a steal. Any enthusiast out there is going to see the value in this car. Before putting the car into storage I ran a compression test on a luke warm engine and it was 120 exact across all 4 cylinders. The minor items worth mentioning are as follows: 1. A kid on a motorcycle hit the passenger side door. It happened at Bond + Nevins in Brooklyn, which is a very tight, tree lined, one-way street. The kid was acting like an ass and tried to pass me on the right and lost control. He crashed his bike and hit my car on the way down. Since he was on a bike I called the police to protect myself from a lawsuit. Unfortunately, this has damaged the vehicle history report. 2. There is one dent in the passenger side door from this incident. Dent Wizard gave me an estimate last month and said this can be removed without paint for $225. It is a 2 hour job. I have an estimate for the work if you want to see it. The clear coat on this door also needs to be wet sanded. Again, a very simple job, one hour tops... I just don't have the time. 3. I do not have a spare tire... but I have a full set of 17x8 advan RS wrapped in dunlop direzza's I could potentially throw in for an extra $1,200. The Videos: Inside driving last weekend to highlight a few things: A stable idle, the car under boost, solid oil pressure, normal exhaust gas temps, normal engine + coolant temps, and my favorite, how awesome this car sounds. A quick walk around the car while it is running. The car is revved a bit to show you that there is no smoke coming from the 3.5" exhaust. At 27 seconds you can also see the dent I mentioned above. On the dyno at EFI Logics: Crawford is now running a 2.7 stroker, up from the 2.65 liter that is in this car. Here is the 2.7 liter for sale on Crawford's website. On Apr-25-11 at 09:40:47 PDT, seller added the following information: LISTING REVISION - Please note: I forgot to note that the car has a short throw shifter installed. First to second is the snap of a wrist. It's awesome. There is a sony amp installed in the trunk. If you want to kick some sounds you can hook up a box no problem. The car does not have a front right speaker. I took it out to replace it and haven't put a new one in. The driver side floor needs a good scrub. There is some dirt in the driver side floor carpet. I'll try to take this out with a scrub brush this week. I'll also try to snap a pic. To me, it's a non-event. But I'm not driving this around as a show car. I drive it for the performance. To some, it might be a big deal. If i think of anything else I'll make another edit. Net/net, i think these revisions are a positive. Two included goodies, Two minor details. Thanks
