Vehicle Detail
RELISTED - NO RESERVE - BID TO WIN For sale is one of two custom 2006 HP2s that were built by Southern California's 'Evoluzione Cyclesports' as a concept bike to highlight the street potential of BMW's amazing HP2 enduro in its first year of production. Fully customized from new, it was then shipped back to BMW Motorcycles of Ventura County - http://bmwventura.com/ - where it originally sold for just over $30K - nearly $10K over the sticker price of the stock `06 HP2 enduro at the time. No expense was spared in the making of the bike, which features amazing handling and performance from the addition of fully adjustable front and rear suspension (Ohlins front, Penske rear), dual-caliper Brembo brakes front, engine performance chip, and Leo Vince SBK Titanium exhaust. The bike flaunts a look that exudes the pure essence of raw motorcycling power, and has been treated to cosmetic enhancements with a unique Alpine White / Blue color scheme, custom blue upholstered seat, custom mirrors, and special addition of machined aluminum utility rack behind rider. This machine is now a pure 'street-performer' and is no longer meant for off-road use. I bought this fine machine from a stock-broker who used it as a fair weather commuter from his home in Sausalito to San Francisco's Financial District. When his own portfolio started to take a bad turn in 2008, he was forced to dump all his fancy toys (his Aston Martin convertible and Chris Craft boat up in Tahoe also hit the block, poor guy)... I picked the bike up from him in Fall 2008 with just over 2,000 miles on the odometer. The 600 mile service had been done, and there was not a scratch or imperfection on the machine anywhere. I enjoyed every free afternoon, weekend, or multi-day getaway I could possibly pinch from my family and work from the weekend I bought her, and put just over 1,200 miles on the bike during the next nine months. I will carry the memories of my rides on CA Highway 36 between Fortuna and Red Bluff for the rest of my life! This modified HP2, and that particular stretch of roller-coaster ride disguised as a public highway are the ultimate marriage of speed, twisty-performance, and perfect NorCal scenery - Even if you don't buy my bike, do this ride someday: http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway36.htm In June of 2009, my work called me out of the country, and my family and I moved to Guanajuato, in the mountains of central Mexico. Before our departure, I took the bike for one last service at Santa Cruz BMW (all service work was performed by them, properly and on time). I had them completely drain all fuel and oil from the bike, and ready the machine for storage (lube as needed, remove battery, etc.), then the bike was loaded along with the rest of my family home and garage furnishings into a 40 foot shipping container, and sent to Dallas, TX, where the container was stored inside a large climate controlled industrial storage warehouse. Unfortunately, during transport inside the container, the bike rubbed against a piece of metal furniture in the container and sustained a quarter-sized chafe/scrape in the metal of the rear swingarm / shaft-drive. This is the only damage on the bike, which has never been down or otherwise damaged in any way. I had intended to return to Dallas once settled in Mexico and bring the HP2 down for South of the Border adventures, but after beating hell out of my Jeep for the first six weeks of residency down there, I determined the cobblestones and pot-holes of Mexico were no place to abuse this highly-strung, precision machine - She waited patiently in storage until our return Stateside in 2010. Our move back to the U.S. saw us landing in New Orleans, LA this time... You know South Louisiana? There is NOT ONE hill within 500 miles of here, and 98% of the area's pavement is straighter than a landing strip. The psychological torment of trying to have fun on a bike like this around here is too much to bear, and since pulling her back out of storage all I've done is ride her about 5 miles a month to keep the cobwebs off, and she sits in a garage on a battery tender otherwise. So that's the narrative report on the most incredible machine I've ever swung a leg over (this is the seventh motorcycle I've owned in 22 years - Harley's, Kawasaki's, and several BMW's). Now for the bullet-points... * I'm moving again - this time overseas to Europe and the if / when of return plans are unknown: Nothing's going into storage this time, so it's YOUR turn to wield the blade of this amazing machine! * It's still carrying CA plates. Registration is expired. Total fees to bring up to date and re-register in CA will be approx. $400, if done before June 2011, after that it will increase. I have no idea of fees to register in any other state - All reg. / transfer / tax charges are buyer's responsibility. * I added a Vario windscreen that did wonders for the naked bike full-frontal wind blast issue, but never could decide if I wanted that Blue or White... I'll leave that job to you. * The rear license-plate holder / turn signal bracket is one unit, and is frankly a bit flimsy. Part of the aluminum of the bracket cracked at the install point. The folks at Santa Cruz BMW repaired it with the addition of a better fastening bolt and a metal shim, but I would fabricate something more durable / trick looking if I were to keep the bike long term. * I am hustling to pull our move together. I have not spent the time to detail the bike out to perfection and take a thousand close-up fotos and shoot video to Youtube of the machine. It has been sitting in a garage gathering dust, waiting for you to clean her up and start loving her again. The winner of this auction will get a fantastic deal on a very, very expensive, high-performance motorcycle that is absolutely unique. * I have bought and sold more than a dozen vehicles on eBay, and been a 100% positive feedback eBay member since 2002. I stand by my listing and the details of this machine absolutely. The winning bidder may collect it in person from my storage garage in Belle Chasse, LA 70037 - 20 minutes from downtown New Orleans. If you come to pick up the bike in person and find that it is not exactly as represented, or if you determine for any reason upon arrival that you do not wish to complete the purchase, I will cheerfully refund your deposit and make no requirements that you complete the transaction (if you want to fly in and ride home, I can pick you up at New Orleans airport). * I will also happily help to coordinate the pick-up of the bike by your chosen transport company (I have used 'Eagle One Express' in the past and been very happy, but it is up to you to select a shipper and arrange for all details and cost of transport). NOTE - There can be no return or refund once the bike leaves my possession - You only have the 'Take it or leave it' option if you personally come to collect the bike. * I require a $1,000 deposit by PayPal within 48 hours of the auction end, and full payment by CASH, WIRE TRANSFER, or CASHIER'S CHECK within 7 days of the auction end. If you are unable to complete the purchase for any reason other than coming to inspect the bike in person and then deciding not to buy, you will lose your deposit. * I am happy to show you the bike in Belle Chasse, LA 70037 any time during the auction, or answer any questions you may have. Just call me at (504) 458-7191 * I have all repair history and receipts scanned to PDF. On Apr-27-11 at 10:03:49 PDT, seller added the following information: RESPONSE TO A FEW FREQUENT QUESTIONS FROM WATCHERS - Yes: I have the original owner's manual and repair / technical guide for the bike on CD. The bike's factory tool kit / tire repair kit is fully intact and stowed in original location under seat. The tires are Dunlop D616F, size 120/70 ZR 17 up front, and Dunlop D616, size 180/55 ZR 17 on the rear. The front tire has been on bike since new and has approx. 75 - 80% tread remaining. I picked up a nail in the rear tire at 2200 miles and opted to replace it with a new tire rather than repair, so rear tire has less than a thousand miles of riding on it and is at about 90% tread.
