UPLOADING PICTURES, YOU DECIDE,,,,,,,,,,On Apr-24-11 at 07:43:10 PDT, seller added the following information: latest info, sunday morning,,,, update: second day of auction. vin is publised on ebay, car is in the first 200 cars built, the first week of january 1970. production went from serial starting at number 400001- ending at 402261 according to the corvette black book- so this is a very early car, built the first probably day or two of the week of january 1970. the block is correct for the year and hp and cu inch 3970010- right one! being a very early car, we can decipher the pad stamp V - flint production plant 12- month(december) 18 day of decembler- year is not denoted, so the engine was stamped on december 18th preceding the build of the car by a little less than 2 weeks, which is about the norm and very much in line with what the books say.On Apr-24-11 at 10:17:34 PDT, seller added the following information: update- easter afternoon, scratching my head, banging my head,,,,this stamp on the pad looks like its been there for 40 years,,,,, that said,,,,,, the block casting 010 is right,, why in the world cant I figure out the block casting date>??????????????the vin on the car says its a very very early january 1970 build, the stamps confirms that it was assembled on dec 18th,,,,,,1969.. thats good, but the casting had to preceed that for this to become reality..... reading on the website and you can google it, nastyz28.com they have lots of decoding info available, they said in 1970 that in the beginning of that year, that they started stamping some of the partial vins in other places other than on the engine pad, other places they said could be above the oil filter, on on another place near a bellhousing flange,,, I will ck that tomorrow,,,,,,, but they also said that there was a gm service bulletin that told which engines were to or were "not" to receive a stamp at all, they conclude that who knows what or what they didnt do to what engines beginning at the time this vette was going down the line...... ok, now, honest mistake, I am a little blinder than I was 20 years ago,,,,, I previously said the engine cast date was 6 1 1 7 every where I read the first thing is a letter not a number, went to look again,,,,,,,,, if you turn the 6 1 1 7 upside down, walla,,,,,,, L 1 1 9 THIS DECODES OUT TO DECEMBER 11TH 1969,. THE DAY IT WAS CAST, AND THIS IS VERY MUCH IN LINE!!!!!!! KEEP YOU POSTED AS TO WHETHER I CAN FIND A VIN ANYWHERE ON THE BLOCK,,,,,,,,, IF SO,,,,,,, WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A MATCHER!!! HAPPY EASTER!!! CAST ON THE 11 OF DECEMBER, FINAL ASSY OF ENGINE ON DECEMBER 18TH AND CAR BUILT ON FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY,,,, THIS WORKS! On Apr-24-11 at 10:28:25 PDT, seller added the following information: VIN Code Format The vin code format is stamped onto most engines. The format consists of divisional identification number, model year, assembly plant designation and vehicle serial or sequence number. In 68-69 model cars, the serial (VIN) number of the car the engine was installed in is stamped next to, or under the engine code ID. Starting in 1970, the serial number is stamped either above the oil filter, somewhere on the block pad (in front of the cylinder head), or on the transmission flange somewhere. Chevrolet issued technical service bulletins to indicate which engines were to recieve a vin stamp, so who knows what could have happend (or not happened). THE ABOVE IS FROM NASTYZ28.COM IF YOU WANT TO GO AND READ IT FOR YOURSELF. NOTICES THEY SAY IN THE FIRST SENTENCE,,,,,,,,,, "MOST" On Apr-24-11 at 14:27:20 PDT, seller added the following information: RADIATOR LOOKS ALMOST NEW IF NOT NEW,,,,, LESS THAN A YEAR OLD I WOULD SAY INTAKE AND MANY HOSES LOOK NEW ALSO NEW AIR CLEANER HEI DISTRIBUTOR, WITH MECHANICAL TACH DRIVE, HOOKED UP AND WORKING, SEE PICS OF TACH AT IDLE MOTOR IS SUPER STRONG AS YOU WOULD EXPECT A 350 HP ENGINE TO BE On Apr-26-11 at 18:31:07 PDT, seller added the following information: update!!!!!!!!!!! jacked car up today, and found the vin stamped on the pad above the oil filter!!! just like the nasty z28 website said it might be,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, so now I have a 68-72 corvette fact book that I paid 49.99 for and a few other corvette GURU books that are taken by the "corvette clique" to be the bible of the hobby,,,,,,,,,, now debunked,,,,,,,,,,,NONE OF THEM TELL YOU THE VIN ON A 70 MIGHT BE SOMEWHERE ELSE OTHER THAN THE FRONT PAD,,,,,,,,,, CAR IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION BY ANY OF THE JUDGES FOR BLOOMINGTON GOLD, SILVER OR OTHER VENUES, THIS MIGHT BE ONE YOU WOULD WANT TO DOCUMENT AND PUT IN THE BOOKS FOR OTHERS TO SEE!!!!! THIS IS THE REAL DEAL,,,,, they did put the vin somewhere other than on the front pad,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and now, there you have it!!!! folks This is a matching number car the motor matchEs the vin of the car, in the stamping, the date code is in line and also the suffix is correct our reserve stays the same, our local advertised price stays the same,,,,,,,, a great car, with the original engine,,,,,,, and most likely, the right miles!!!! for sale cheap!!!!!!!!! MATCHING NUMBERS!!!! WHOOOPEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
