To me, the 82 KATANA was the bike that changed all the rules...it looked fast just standing still! Created by Hans Muth of Target Design(famous BMW designer/stylist), this bike is well known for its "out of this world" looks,and has become a cult classic.A Katana was 1 of the few cycles to appear at the Guggenheim Museums "Art of the Motorcycle" exhibit in NYC a few years back...Original GS1000SZ's are rare,+ ones in this shape are getting hard to find..This is a low mile(7K miles)example,with a FLAWLESS brand new NOS gas tank that has never had gas in it till lastweek!(cost me 999.00 + shipping!!)The rest of the bodywork is in great shape also + reflects the low mileage on the bike...as U can see from pics. the bike was last on the road legally in 88'(note inspection sticker), so this babys been sleeping for 20 odd years til I found her! I believe this bike is the ONLY Suzuki to ever have the 1000cc 16 valve engine installed in it(dropped from 1100cc to qualify for Superbike racing in 82)so even the engine is quite unique! I would think this year KATANA (82) is more collectable then the 1100cc (83) KATANA since it was the first year + the rarer engine just mentioned.This bike is an absolute BLAST to ride + gets alot of attention,but I wouldn't ride it cross country(even though I know a guy who did!) It's a hardcore cafe' racer to be sure so short/moderate trips are best(at my age!) the 4 into 1 header has a competition/race baffle + the sound is incredible,like a Formula 1 racebike! I took off the STOCK exhaust + put it on my 83GS1100ES(see pics.) Bike has just been serviced + is ready to go! It runs GREAT,looks GREAT + sounds GREAT,but the wife says I have too many bikes(over 35!) + I got to let some go...only about 1500 of these gems were issued(1 for each dealer worldwide) so theres not many left This baby looks like new(not bad for 30 yrs. old)+ will not dissappoint new ownerDon't pass up this opportunity to own this true survivor...any ??'s email me or call cell#(215)901-1410 Thanks for looking + GOODLUCK!!
