Vehicle Detail

I'm selling a very nice 1979 Mazda RX7, VIN-5A220516446, with a 155,000 and some odd miles. I'm selling it for an elderly family member so my knowledge is somewhat limited, but I will be happy to retrieve more info. as needed. This car spent most of it's life in both Florida and California being here in the Midwest for only the last few years. It's been driven very little the last few years period and hasn't been driven in the snow or cold at all. In my opinion, I would say this car is in above average cosmetic condition for it's age. I saw no rust on any body panels, very few paint chips, and I saw no dents. The passenger mirror base bracket is broken but is in the car. The mirror itself is fine and could be put back on with a new base. It has all black interior that is in very good shape. The driver's side sun visor has some tape over the corner and the dash has an aftermarket cover on it leading me to believe it must have some cracks, but I can't be sure. It has an AM/FM radio with a power antennae and it all works. It has a 12A Wankel rotary engine with a carburetor NOT fuel injection. I believe the engine to be original to the car. It started right up after several months of storage and ran and performed very well when I took it out on a test drive, but the engine DOES have oil leaks. I've been told these engines are notorious for leaking so I don't know if what I see is normal or not. Most of the engine is quite clean, but there is oil on the lower portion of the engine, the lower firewall, and the underneath of the car. The engine smoked blue out the exhaust upon the first start up, too, until it was warmed up. After seeing the oil beneath, I'm not sure if it was smoking off the outside of the exhaust or actually out the exhaust. At any rate, it quit after it was warmed up. It has a manual 5 speed transmission that shifted very smoothly and the clutch felt normal to me. The steering is very tight and it took high speed curves like a champion. The brakes seemed to be just fine being firm and having no squeaks. I believe the rims to be factory equipment and the tires are in very nice condition with much life left in them. Overall, I think all things considered, this would be an awesome find for someone who truly want this make and model of car.
