Vehicle Detail
NO RESERVE! 1986 BMW 735i 5-Speed Manual Euro Executive Rare 5 speed manual transmission 735i, born in Europe and imported as new via gray market, original papers included. Bahama Beige on Nutrina leather interior which was not available state-side. Ordered with limited slip differential, sport steering wheel, and executive package. As a bonus it has that crazy Zender-looking body package which I think looks not too out-there. Fly in, drive it home. Runs and drives great. History: I purchased off of craigslist in late 2010. I installed a new head gasket and have been driving it around ever since. We are now moving to California and can't take it with us. It was my daily driver up until 3 weeks ago when I started working out west. It is now my wife's daily driver back in TN while I am out west (yes, I have that much confidence in its reliability). However, it is that time--the rest of my family will be joining me shortly and it's time to sell. The title is clean and clear and in my name, ready for the new owner. Current Conditon: It is a comfortable ride--no wandering or excessive vibration at speed, and gets nearly 30 mpg expressway cruising at 70 mph @ ~2,500 rpm. The clutch shifts as most 80's BMW's do--that is, not as smooth as a modern car but not sloppy and it has quite a long throw compared to the smaller E30 and imports of the same period. It doesn't use any coolant or oil and doesn't leave a mess. The battery is a new Interstate 72 month. But it has old car misgivings: Although the AC is R134a converted and the comrpessor spins when you kick it on, it does not cool down (yes, it has full charge and holds full charge). It does NOT have the US troublesome automatic HVAC. The blower works great. Rear bumper is pushed in on driver's side, see pictures Scrape along passenger side rear, see pictures The rear brake pad sensor is loose/disconnected, which makes the brake pad warning flicker at times There is a hole in the rear passenger seat bottom. The rear passenger window switch does not work. However, the window does. The retractable rear shade takes quite a while to retract (like, overnight). I usually leave it up. I'm sure there are other things that it needs though they do not come to mind. This is not garage queen, show car, or pure classic. It's just a neat old BMW that you can drive, is very rare but cheap to maintain, and is wonderfully reliable. Questions? Contact Information: The best way to contact me is via text at (423) 521-0830. You can also call and leave a detailed message and I will return your call. If you email me through eBay I may or may not get the message because of email spam filters. Terms: Please see detailed pictures for car's condition and details. The description is all of the history and knowledge I have of this car. Please ask questions via eBay BEFORE the auction ends. I am a private seller; the title is clean, clear, and in my name. There are no fees above the bid price. I will not export this car. I have diligently described the car with as thorough as details as possible. No additional negotiation will take place in person after the auction's end. Car is for sale locally and subject to early auction ending. The local asking price is $3,000. Deposit: $200 Non-refundable deposit due within 24 hours via PayPal. I will not accept more than $200 via PayPal. Payment: Car must be paid in full within 3 days--but I'm very flexible on that rule if you contact me before auction's end and we agree on alternate arrangements (e.g., if you're coming in person). Balance accepted in cash if picking up in person. The in-person cash transaction will take place at the bank so that the cash may be verified. If having the car shipped payment must be completed and verified before the car OR the title is released. Please contact me for payment options. Non-paying bidders: If you do not contact me before the auction's end and item is not paid for within three days then it will be relisted and I'll move forward however possible (though emotionally it may be tough). I am very flexible with my terms if you contact me before the auction's end. If you're just playing and having fun on eBay then my ad is not the place for you. This is not the place to win, then reneg, or have your wife leave you or your son wreck your car. You win? Come and get it. Shipping Shipping is solely the financial and logistical responsibility of the buyer. I am available to meet the shipper and help load in Chattanooga. If shipping via DAS I can drop the car at the local DAS delivery point for free, which is about 10 miles from my house. I can also recommend a local auto shipper who is in the Chattanooga area and ships anywhere on the eastern seaboard. I can also recommend uship.com, which I have used a few times. I will not release the car to any 'drive-away' 3rd party shipping service. In-Person Pick-Up If you're driving it away from Chattanooga you must have your own temporary tag and insurance. I can't provide you a temporary tag and the state of TN requries me to keep my tag. If you're flying or driving into town there are a few cheap ways to get here. There is a $39 van shuttle from both the Atlanta and Nashville airports into Chattanooga that leaves once an hour. There are cheap airlines which fly into both Atlanta and Nashville. There are also Budget, Hertz, and Avis rental car drop-offs in Chattanooga. If you're flying into Chattanooga the cheapest airlines are USAir, Delta, and Allegiant.
