CHRYSLER AIRFLOW, 1937 Model C-17. This is a beautiful, nearly untouched, all original Chrysler Airflow with nothing missing. The car runs and drives very good. As is known, the Chrysler Airflows were one of the most famous cars in mechanical and aerodynamic design in the 30's, a car that was truly "ahead of its time" and very few good originals still exist. In its present un-restored condition, this car would be a great and unique addition to any automotive collection. Although the car is basically un-restored from original, it has been repainted sometime prior to my ownership to its current blue color and it still has a very good shine. There are however two small areas where the blue paint has flaked-off exposing the primer coat, but could be easily touched-up. The only mechanical repairs I have had done over my twenty years of ownership is a valve job, carburator rebuild, fuel pump replacement, tune-up and a new muffler. The clutch, brakes, steering, transmission and overdrive unit work fine. The whitewall tires are like new. Due to many years of dry storage, the transmission/overdrive rear oil seal apparently has dried-out and leaks transmission fluid, but it could be easily replaced by dropping the drive shaft and U-joint for seal replacement. Considering the car's original good appearance and driving condition, the current speedometer reading of 94,358 miles may be actual, but it cannot be certified. There is no evedence of rust or rot in any areas, even behind the door panels, kick panels or floorpans. The dash panel, gauges, controls, glass and original interior upholstery is in very good condition considering its age with only minor moth evidence on the rear of the headliner. All of the doors close firm and are in straight alingment. Chrysler Corporation Airflow advertisements of the day stated that "it is designed to travel all day at 80 mph". It has all of the 37 Airflow shop repair manuals and an excellent ACA-CD covering most mechanical components and features.
