Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 2004 BMW R1150RT One Owner - Dealer Maintained – Freshly Serviced! Low Reserve Price***** Touring Sport BMW has just checked this RT over, performed a fresh annual service and test ridden it – it is ready to RIDE! ***** In my undoubtedly biased opinion, these oilhead-era RT’s are among the prettiest of BMW’s modern bikes. The 2004 with its smooth dual-spark ignition was the culmination and most refined of the series. To me, the RT is the epitome of sport touring machines, capable of inhaling long distances rapidly and comfortably – nimble and plenty of torque to be fun in the twisties, stable and comfortable on those days when you have to pound the slab. This particular motorcycle was purchased new, by me, from Touring Sport BMW in Greenville, SC on September 4, 2003. It has been serviced regularly and exclusively by Touring Sport, except for the 24K service performed by Santa Fe BMW while traveling out west. Speaking of traveling, this bike has seen most of the lower-48 and much of Canada as far north as Red Bay Labrador. She is ready to take you wherever you want to go! In her miles and adventures, she has had her share of bumps and scratches. There has never been any damage beyond cosmetic and no repairs have been made except for replacing the glass in the right rear-view mirror, which was broken loading the motorcycle in a trailer. There has been no bodywork or painting done whatsoever. The worst of the damage is the deep scratches in the front corner of the right side case. If the new owner wants to address this issue, I have a couple of suggestions – one would cost little or nothing, the other might cost several hundred dollars but would significantly “snazz” up the bike’s appearance. Ask me about this if interested. Mechanically, the bike has been almost completely trouble-free. At first, I was concerned about oil consumption but was told this was normal and would stop when the bike had some miles on it, which it did. There was one episode of being hard-to-start and sluggish throttle response. I do not remember exactly what the issue was but it was quickly resolved. I have hard copies of most of the motorcycle’s service records that I will give to the buyer. Touring Sport probably has a record of everything ever done to the motorcycle except for the 24K service. Additional Options and Accessories Öhlins Shocks (front and rear) – By the time these were installed, I had nearly stopped riding so they have very few miles on them, maybe 500. The Öhlins suspension significantly distinguishes this motorcycle from most on the market. Besides the adjustability and outstanding handling potential of these shocks, unlike less expensive competitors, Öhlins are rebuildable. Expensive but a good investment. Metzler Roadtec Z6 Tires - Lot’s of meat left on these but I don’t know the exact mileage on them. BMW Comfort Seat – This, the smooth seat in pictures, was the stock seat but it is too tall for me. Sargent Low Seat - This has been such a great seat, I have bought them for all my subsequent motorcycles. BMW Tank Bag Big Mak Tank Bag - More convenient than OEM bag, particularly for electrified (GPS, Sat Radio, Radar, iPod, Bike-To-Bike…) use. Power to Front of Tank Bag Gadget Guy GPS Mount - This mount, above the instrument cluster and close to the rider’s line of sight is the optimum location for GPS. Mostly for looks, I will leave the old StreetPilot III in place. The new owner can get an adapter from Gadget Guy to mount their current GPS. Power is already neatly run to that location. SignalMinder - Provides self-cancelling turn signals and running light. PathBlazer - Provides option of modulating headlight during daytime for increased visibility. TailBlazer - Modulates tail light when brakes are applied to increase visibility. Throttlemeister - Throttle lock I never really got used to. Wunderlich Side Stand Enlarger - Doesn’t sink into dirt or hot asphalt. BMW Dust Cover - Black cloth cover with BMW logo. The Bottom Line - This 2004 BMW R1150RT is a well-equipped motorcycle in excellent mechanical condition and very good cosmetic condition that should give its new owner years and thousands of miles of satisfying service. The Öhlins suspension is the big score on this deal – why settle for less?! Terms: A $1000 deposit via PayPal due within 48 hours of auction end. Balance due within 7 days. Motorcycle will be delivered when funds have cleared. I will deliver the motorcycle to you, your agent or shipper within 100 miles of Charleston, SC. No test rides - if the bike is found to have a material defect or is not as represented, I will make good on it or buy it back at the selling price if it is returned to me within 24 hours of delivery in the condition in which it was delivered. Though I won't be taken advantage of, my eBay reputation is more valuable to me than the price of this motorcycle. If you have any questions, please contact me BEFORE bidding. Thank you and GOOD LUCK!
