Vehicle Detail
1981 TOYOTA SR-5. BLACK. 5 SPD, HATCHBACK A fun little car to drive. Smoke free. Large removable metal sunroof, stores in rear hatch. Has some bubbled up rust around rim of sunroof where rubber seal is. Water had settled under rubber. Little rust on car where the two sunroof slide retainers meets car roof. Only rust on entire exterior of car as far as I can tell. All shocks, tires, original equipment as far as I can tell. Car had been stored outside for a few years before I bought it. Was told, one fender damaged, so it was repaired/replaced. They could not match paint, so whole car was repainted. I put on the rear spoiler, racing mirrors and nose bra. All like new. The car is lots of fun to drive, especially on hot, sunny days when the big sunroof can be removed. The seats recline, so you can relax after a day of cruising. The 5spd slides into gear with just a touch of the fingers. Seats in excellent shape, no rips/tears and almost new clean. Headliner in same condition. was a small crack in dash, from the sun, I repaired so it isn't so noticable. The millage says 11,838. With everything pretty much being original, your guess is good as mine. Didn't matter to me when I bought it, because it drove like new. The little, but powerful, 4 cyl is quick and responsive. And, great on gas. Seems like you can drive forever without refilling up. The paint on the hood you can see some fine sanding marks. The rest of the car pretty much perfect. Small BB dent above driver side back tire. Have no idea where or how that happened. Guess, some attempted to take me out with a BB gun (-: Not really noticable. I put a drop of paint on to cover. Two years ago when I was backing car into its winter spot in garage, just as I got it where I wanted it, it killed. Tried to start it the next year, couldn't. To busy that summer, so let it sit. The next summer, same thing, put some gas in carb, it would run for few seconds, then kill. Changed fuel filter, same problem. Then, realized wasn't getting any gas to filter. So, Im thinking, fuel pump or fuel line. Yes, I know there's gas in tank, even though fuel gauge doesn't work. So, it will have to trailered or put on dolly to transport. Engine, transmission, drivetrain are fine, no problems. You can't go wrong on the price Im asking. If you like to tinker with cars, fuel problem would be easy to figure out and cure. Because of its age, Im selling "AS IS", "NO RETURNS".
