Up for auction is my 1984 Mercedes 300SD Turbo Diesel that was my daily driver until last March when the transmission gave out. The car has 328,402 miles on it and I drove it everywhere without any concerns. I checked on converting it to vegetable oil and had found a waste oil supplier when this happened. It would make a fine conversion car. I'm listing everything that comes to mind, but if you have any specific questions, please let me know. The bad: The transmission is shot. It will go in reverse great but forward slips terribly bad and isn't safe to drive, so it will have to be trailered and even trailered it will have to be backed on. The plastic slides on both rear window regulators are broken, but the windows are up and blocked. I have the parts to repair the plastic guides, but never got around to repairing it. One of the window switches is bad. The driver seat adjustment switch has been removed. The driver seat edge where I got in and out is in bad shape. Radio antenna is attached but does not power up/down. The foam pad under the hood is gone. The drivers side floor mat has seen better days. The cruise control hasn't worked in years, I think it needs a new module. The windshield has a crack along the bottom. The alarm has been disconnected. The good: Due to my confrontation five years ago with a severe hail storm, the car has been repainted the original Mercedes brown and is much glossier than you'll find most 84's. The body shop did a great job removing the hail dings and with the paint job. It's been five years and lots of highway miles, so there are plenty of rock dings on the front and hood so please don't expect perfect paint. The diesel engine is strong and has been well maintained with so many new parts I can't begin to remember them all. Over the last couple of years, I know I've replaced the fuel pump, starter, alternator, glow plugs, vacuum lines and other things I can't recall. The vacuum system is strong and no leaks that I'm aware of. I just put new Michelin tires on right before it quit. They have about 80% thread and were almost $1000 bucks. The sunroof works perfectly and doesn't leak. Both front power windows work but I recall using the fuse for them somewhere else. Power seat on passenger side works. The heater and a/c worked when I parked it. All interior/exterior lights worked when I parked it. All emblems/logo/identifcation are intact. Muffler/exhaust system is in good shape. Belts/hoses are in good shape. The power mirrors work. The spare tire is on a brand new rim. The original first aid kit container is in the storage box (with updated band aids) The original Becker cassette radio lights up and I hear static, but I don't think the antenna is working. The orignal tools and jack are in the trunk. That's it...the good and the bad. I've fought an internal battle over putting a new transmission in it and keeping it, I've even found several rebuilt ones on eBay for $1000.00, but I've spent so much money on it that at some point you just have to let go and let someone else love her.
