PLEASE read everything before bidding - there is a lot to read. Ask questions before bidding. Come look at the car before bidding. NO Bidders with fewer than 5 feedback. NO Bidders with a feedback rating of less than 95%. Please do not ask for the Reserve - I won't tell. 1967 Mustang Fastback "S" Code GT with 390 engine and 4 speed transmission. Comes with Marti Report. The Marti Report lists this fastback as built March 15, 1967 enroute to Philadelphia with a 3.25 Limited Slip Rear and a Three Speed Transmission. This differs from the door data tag which lists the fastback as built March 16, 1967 enroute to Pittsburgh with a 3.50 Conventional Rear and a Four Speed Transmission. I'm not sure why these sources are off by ONE for each of those items. I know there were odd mistakes/practices made at Ford, but I don't know for sure that this is the case with this fastback. All other data between the two sources seem to match. The original candyapple red color of this fastback matches the Marti Report as well as the VIN/Door Tag/Mustang Decoder. I included photos of the door tag and buck tag. There is no tag on the rear axle, but it is a conventional 9" (see photo). The transmission is coded RUG J which matches a '67 390 Fairlane or Comet, 28 spline wide ratio 4 Speed toploader (that could have been the original trans that Ford pulled from their "shelves" to complete the order, or it may be a replacement). The decision on whether or not to bid is yours. I'm going to lay everything out there that I know and leave it up to you. I have a request for more information in to Marti, but have not yet received a response. Several years ago I was selling Mustang fastbacks on eBay. I sold 91 fastbacks (all '65, '66, '67, '68, and one '69) in various project stages or complete. I sold 1967 & 68 Mustang Fastbacks to Buyers in Sweden, Holland, Australia, England, Germany, Canada, California, Texas, Arkansas, and a bunch of other states. I bought this fastback during that time with the intention of keeping it and restoring it. I never got around to doing much on this fastback and it ended up being put away in storage where it sat for several years. I decided to let the car go in the hope that someone who is more motivated than me will finish this Mustang. This fastback is a project and there are small parts missing and not everything is bolted or screwed on. This fastback was "BORN" on March 15, 1967 or March 16, 1967 (?) - more than 44 years ago. These cars were not built to last 44+ years, and there are bound to be changes & repairs made by various owners in those 44+ years. Again, there were some practices at Ford that included sometimes grabbing other components "off the shelf" when pressed for time and resources. According to the Marti report this fastback went from being scheduled for build to actually built in the same day. I can see how there could be a rush to complete the order as quickly as possible - a complete fastback scheduled for build, then built, and then released from the factory on the very same day. Anyway, I am selling the fastback as is and it is not possible to provide a detailed history of the car. I am disclosing everything that I know and I've added a little of my own speculation based on what I have learned about Ford's assembly practices. I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from bidding, and I'm not trying to convince you to bid. I'm just laying the information out there for you to decide. If you have any question in your head that this is not the fastback for you then please do not bid. I always focus on the fastback's negatives, so I'm going to be as brutal as I can on what I know that this fastback lacks & needs & should have. I'm making every effort to uncover everything that I can find about this fastback. I prefer to have the buyer well-informed and know what to expect when he/she receives the car. I am fine that this will affect the selling price because experience has shown that the new owner gets better than what I described and the result has been a pleasant surprise for the new owner - so it's worth it. That's been the history so far and I plan for the same with this fastback. Check my feedback as a "Seller". Not everyone leaves feedback, but those who did left glowing reviews about the Mustang fastback that they bought from me. Comments like; "Car was much better than described", "Best thing I ever bought on ebay", and others. Interestingly, I received positive feedback for a fastback that I sold in August 2005 and on August 10, 2005, that Buyer rated the transaction, "...AAAAAA+++++". Then, 1 YEAR, 3 MONTHS, and 2 WEEKS later he added to that feedback comment that I was a "crook". His reason - he sold the fastback for less money than what he paid for it. He even stated this in the second feedback comment. He sold the fastback in Nov 2006 - more than 15 months after he bought it from me in Aug 2005. Somehow it was my fault that he sold a fastback for less money - 15 months after he bought it!? So, please look at my Seller feedback and everything else I have to say in this auction, do some research, and again - make your own decision as to whether or not you want to bid. There is a 1931 Chevy Coupe in the background - wife's rat rod - not for sale. This engine sounds good & is not an oil burner. This was to be my "keeper" fastback since 1967 Mustang Fastbacks with the "S" Code 390 GT Engine and 4 Speed Toploader Transmission are very hard to find. I never did get around to doing the things I wanted to do for this fastback - new quarters, fenders, etc... - a full restoration. This is not a concours car, but it is a solid unibody/frame car that has had body filler work (some cracks) and a paint job that has been scratched in some places and flaking in others (photos). This is a project that runs and drives. Here we go... The Negative: Dash pad needs replaced, 1/2 quarter panels were replaced behind both wheel wells, door panels worn, sail panels have some cracks, but they are fibre glass and can be replaced rather easily, carpet not laying real flat, door latch on pass door sticks sometimes, some small screws and other smalls are missing (I'll try to replace everything missing, but no guarantees), seat belts are rough and not installed, engine bay and other parts of the interior show wear to the paint and original candyapple red color shows through in spots, some welding patches to the frame rails, floors have patch welds, - not the prettiest welds, but appear solid (maybe overdone), a couple of small sections of rear floor (the notorious location where the brake line meets the brake hose and some small areas under the back seat will need some work), front sections of frame rails (under the bumper supports) will need repair/welding or the short replacement outer frame pieces, door hinges creak and the passenger side upper hinge is not the heavy duty hinge as on the driver's side - I'll include a replacement upper hinge if asked for it (remind me), door window felt missing or needs replaced, body filler cracks and scratches in paint, fibre glass hood has some scratches and slight crack at front edge (my fault) and the hood is going to need some adjustment in order to close right. The front end sits like a normal early Mustang - a little higher than I like - I never got around to doing the Shelby drop and the rear end is a little lower than I like (has air shocks that are not inflated in the photos), right door mirror just sitting there - not mounted, the cowl - (see photos) - the cowl area is the most unforgiving rust location on an early Mustang - but, these cowls don't appear to be rusted through. Top hats were used to seal the cowls, but I don't know that they were needed. I poked the circumference of the cowls with a screwdriver (from under the dash) and they appear solid, yet there is a leak near both cowls which may just be a need for caulk in the body seam (I removed the heater to inspect the passenger side cowl from under the dash - it's back in place with a new heater motor). I recommend replacing the cowls on any Mustang. The engine was overheating so I replaced the radiator (old radiator had holes and will go with the car if the new owner wants it & wants to attempt to repair it) - don't know if the overheating issue is gone because I do not drive the car - so, buyer beware - to be safe - bid on this car as if it has no engine! Needs wiper blades, front windshield trim applied, deck lid trim applied, and some front trim pieces to be applied - all come with the fastback. I put maybe 20 miles on this fastback since I bought it - it just sits in storage, reverse/back up light switch needed, electrical system should be gone over, has manual steering, drum brakes (condition unknown) on all four wheels, bad headliner, no radio, comes with a console in pieces - not complete (see photos), left front fender apron was replaced and the vin was re-stamped - sloppily, car was originally candyapple red - now blue, some body dings. Body work, welding, paint obviously not done by a Mustang restoration professional. Actual mileage unknown, title mileage says 162,736. The instrument cluster was replaced & reflects mileage as 55,271. "A" pillar pads missing, but I will put them in the car if I find them. This fastback should receive a full restoration and that's how I prefer everyone bid - as if it is in need of full restoration. The Positive: It's a 1967 Mustang "S" Code 390 GT Fastback with a Toploader 4 Speed Transmission and 9" Rear (conventional) - (not sure how original the existing engine, trans, rear are - so again, it's 44+ years old - buyer beware). The 67 Mustang Fastback 390 GT "S" Code is one of the most highly-desired early Mustangs. Historically they appreciate in desirability and value - a '67 GT "S" Code Fastback with a Toploader is difficult to find. The 390 was the largest engine the factory put in the 1967 Mustang. Door tag and buck tags are present (photos). I'd call this fastback a "25 Footer". I was told by the previous owner that the engine was rebuilt, but he did not keep a receipt. I had a Ford/Mustang mechanic inspect the engine's bottom end and remove the heads - the engine looks clean inside and has been bored .030 over. The mechanic told me that it does appear that the engine was recently rebuilt. Any serious bidders can email the mechanic or speak with him. He has been over, under, and through this fastback. Again, the cowls (which are the achilles heel of a Mustang and a real pain to replace) appear solid - not rusted out as is so often the case (photos). Torque Thrust D wheels. Has headers (Hooker, I think). Dash cluster and dash ornaments look pretty good, seats look to be better than okay (photos), trapdoor looks good, trapdoor handle is in place, trapdoor bracket in place, clear title in my name, I have some '67/68 Mustang console parts (photo) and will put together one as close as possible to complete for the high bidder (if wanted). The blue console is from a 1968 Mustang, but it has the manual shift center plate that will fit the four speed shifter - high bidder's choice - if wanted. Marti Report accompanies the fastback. I paid much more $ for it than the reserve that I set - (thousands $ more). If/when the reserve is met you may be surprised. I'm just ready to let it go. If it doesn't sell I will probably hold onto it & put it back in storage and worry about it another day. So, don't snooze - this may be your only shot at this car. Shipping is the financial responsibility of the buyer - I will not release the fastback until final payment has cleared. I can help with loading and may be available to transport a short distance (maybe up to 200 miles - depends where to) for a small fee. I can possibly have the fastback transported from Northern Virginia to Youngstown, Ohio (a distance of 315 miles) for $200. I have access to transport that takes that route every few weeks. The fastback is currently stored in Northern Virginia, near Dulles Airport. I prefer that the fastback stay in the USA, but of course I will sell to overseas buyers. Payment of $750 is due within 48 hours of auction closing. The deposit can be made through PayPal or bank deposit with Bank of America. I have secure banking and excellent references. Payment of remainder is due within five (5) days of end of auction (by noon on April 15th, 2011) by bank transfer or other SAFE method that we agree upon - not PayPal (they charge too much). Payment must be received and clear before the fastback can be taken by the buyer. Sorry, but I have to say the legal stuff: This 1967 Mustang Fastback is sold as is. Do not bid if you cannot pay. Do not bid, win, and then not pay. Once paid for this fastback is the responsibility of the buyer. I will store the fastback for up to 30 days after full payment is made (unless we come to another agreement), but I cannot be held responsible for unavoidable damage if it should occur. No refund or rebate. The final price is the final price - please, no haggling after the sale. There is no warranty or guarantee on this vehicle. I make no claims as to authenticity and I do not knowingly withhold information from this auction listing. Sold as is. Buyer Beware. Sale is final. Good luck! Sale is final. Please ask questions and inspect BEFORE bidding. Check out my other items! On Apr-09-11 at 02:19:35 PDT, seller added the following information: See my other 1967 1968 Mustang Fastback auction items: Check out my other items! On Apr-09-11 at 16:47:22 PDT, seller added the following information: I just want to remind everyone that this is a project car and that I have described it and its flaws as best I can. I'm sure I missed some things, but the major issues are addressed - I believe. I cannot verify for sure that the car is 100% original, but I did look under the passenger fender for another VIN stamp and found none. Again, I cannot verify that this is a GT, but according to the data this fastback came from the factory with the 390 4V engine - the 390 4V that was put in the 390 GTs. Good luck.
