The car is a 91 VW Jetta GL with a 1.6 n/a diesel. Worlfsburg edition. I'd be pulling my hair out in agony as I'm fed up with the damn thing. All I want is to drive it and get 55mpg and not have a worry in the world about things breaking down for the next 350,000+ miles because of all of the things I put into overhauling the motor. [b] edit: [after talking to the shop i brought the car to, to get it finished, i feel as though they have no clue what they're talking about.. He said he can hear the intermediate shaft is shot but its straight and turns fine. And he also said that the IP is pumping air into cylinder 1; and 3 and 4 arent getting enough diesel. But here's what makes me thinks he's a ufck.. the car starts just fine and idles great too.. A diesel would not start on just 1 good cylinder!! The shop refused my money to tune the car and get it running 100% what shop refuses money???!!! reguardless, I'm cutting my looses with this car, I need it gone sooner then later. MAKE ME AN OFFER!!!] [/b] I'm at witts end with this ufcking car. Originally I traded my DD mk3 aba for this down in NC/VA for better MPG as i drove from the midwest to southeast alot. The PO ufcked me. He had turned the smoke screw out so far that it melted the pistons and the car was running on blow by. RPM's continued to climb between shifts & it didnt have enough compression to to start the car on its own after a while. So I towed it back home to WI where it has sat pretty much since last Feb. Over the summer I found an 84 1.6D with 107k miles on the motor. Car had been sitting for a while because the shift linkage broke. Bought the car for 800 and pulled the motor. Took everything apart and spent about $800 in new parts and seals and overhauled it. Dropped it back into my 91 and drove it for 3 days.. Leaving a buddies house something destructed and the camshaft snapped. So I towed the car to my garage and began tearing it down and replacing isht once again. New: -mechanical head NEW from parts place inc. -Every single gasket and seal you can name -Valve cover studs and head bolts -Oil pan baffle -Block has 107k and shows NO cylinder wear, otherwise I would've replace pistons & rings. -Water pump -Thermostat -Every sensor minus the coolant overflow tank -Tie Rod Ends -2.25 alumi exhaust and hangers -Exhaust gasket at down pipe & "C" clips -Timing belt & tensioner pulley -13% tint all around -All hose ishtty OEM hose clamps replaced with NEW twist tighten ones -All new hoses -AC recharged -Glow Plugs & copper piece -Block heater assembly -Chinese mk3 style door handles -Altenator Good: -Axels look like a PO replaced -Vogtland 60mm cupkit -Ecodes w/ 8k HID's -Badgless 3bar grill -Weather stripping not dry rotted -Hot hot hot heat -g12 coolant (pink stuff) -Carpet and seats are MINT! no smokers** -L.E.D license plate lamps -IP on the car doesnt leak; has 107k on it -Comes with 2nd IP, but the smoke screw needs to be set to stock or close otherwise it would just melt the pistons. Ive kept it to sell or send in to Giles for rebuild. It does work just fine but has tiny leak until it warms up. Bad: -On its 3rd cluster.. effin mk2's :mad: -Speedometer cable unhooked behind cluster -Cannot seem to get 2nd "C" clamp onto exhaust near down pipe. (Think the new gasket needs to be compressed???) -Hose from water pump to pipe needs to be replaced. [I have the entire brand new set from PartsPlaceInc.com -Headliner is ugly, could be replaced [b]The car does start up and idles no problem but bogs down at first when you give it throttle, IMO its just doesn't sound 100% I think it just needs to be tuned right.[/b] The car is originally from NC, and was sold to a guy in VA. Where I then towed it up here. It hasn't seen a wisconsin winter, so the under body and strut towers and everything is really really clean. I don't want to get rid of this car as I've spent 2600 in just replacing **** so that it would last me for years and years to come. But at this point I'm pulling out my hair on a project that never seems to take enough of my money. I'm on empty and I'm finally caving in and putting it up on here. This is a FEELER as I'm not just going to take anything as I've dumped sooo much money into. But I know I will never get what I put into the car back in my wallet. I'm interested in anything trade wise.. -mk4 gti 20th or 337 -mk3 golf/gti ..VR or tdi -mk2 golf/gti diesel, ..VR or 16v -mk1 rabbit, caddy, cabby ..VR, diesel, or cabby if i think of more things replaced or come across any more receipts I'll update.
