I am listing my 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible. This car was pampered and restored over a 10 year period. This Mustang is an original C code with original Pony interior and has been completely updated - better than new in many areas. I never intended on selling this car, this was my dream. However, I am pursuing my other dream (aviation) and recently purchased an airplane. My wife, well, you understand. . . I honestly enjoy this car, as do my children. It is the envy of many at cars shows; the Woodward Dream cruise and many 4th of July parades. This is a wonderful super solid runner and driver that is absolutely reliable and a blast to own. I reside in Michigan and would feel comfortable driving the car to Florida. The car stays in a storage facility and has never seen bad weather or rain since I have owned it. I am NOT a dealer, rather a private owner. I have included many pictures to demonstrate the quality of the paint, body and restoration. The body lines are now superior to what cars of this era left the factory. Please carefully review the photos and understand that I believe this car looks and drives better than most. This car was restored with reliability and authenticity (using many updated, modern, reliable components without compromising the authentic look). Paint/Interior: The paint is as close to a 10 as you can get. The car was painted in torch red with several clear coats. Each coat was wet sanded by hand. The paint is show quality. The paint has never seen rain or a car wash and has no swirl marks in the clear coat. A mirror finish, the paint is stunning! The originally equipped Pony interior now sports new seat covers as well as carpet. All new weather seals were used throughout the car. Engine / Transmission: The car’s original 289 was upgraded. The engine appears 100% stock however sports a 289 with a mild cam (slightly more aggressive than stock) for that true Mustang sound that is not too aggressive and is quite at cruising speeds. The engine was completely re-manufactured with the assistance of Booth-Arons racing enterprises (of drag racing fame), who specifically selected components for a strong, reliable, upgraded Mustang motor. The upgrades include hardened valve seats to accept unleaded regular octane fuel, electronic ignition, Edelbrock aluminum intake and a 4 barrel Edelbrock 500 CFM carburetor. The transmission was also updated from the old C-4 automatic to a modern Automatic Overdrive (AOD) transmission for better fuel economy at highway speeds, longer engine life and a better first gear. Theses modern components were selected for reliability. The engine has approximately 2000 since meticulous overhaul. I also installed a new radiator and exhaust. (The car’s odometer was zero timed (0000000 miles) at overhaul. Wheels/Tires: The car now wears NEW Craiger SS (Super Sport chrome wheels) with NEW radial whitewall tires for the timeless classic look of this very special Mustang. (The tires and wheels have less than 500 miles on them.) Original drum brakes with new Master cylinder and wheel cylinders. Chrome/Stainless: All chrome is either NOS (new old stock), refurbished/highly polished original or new reproduction, including, bumpers, mirrors, grill, handles, interior trim etc. Electrical/Heat: The mechanical points were upgraded to a Pertronix electronic ignition (hidden in the distributor cap). The Ford voltage regulator and Alternator were replaced with a modern GM single wire alternator. The headlights, turn signals, wipers, gauges are in good working order. The stereo is an AM/FM clone of the original radio (ipod jack etc.) The heater core and heater box are new. Gas tank: New Suspension: The car sports new shocks, and leaf springs. The car handles nice. Sheet Metal: The fit and finish of the body panels is solid, tight and strait. The seams are better than the cars left the factory when new. This car was sandblasted to bare metal during the restoration and every defective part was either repaired or replaced. There is NO RUST period in any sheet metal (including, the floor pan, fender aprons, trunk, frame rails etc. . . .) This car was a labor of love. Convertible top: The top mechanism is in good working order. However, I purchased a new top and never installed it. (Some projects are never finished). So, I am including the new top for the proud new owner to install. Title / Representations: The car has clear Michigan title. While I believe the description of this car is accurate as described, the car is sold as is where is. Serious bidders are invited to test drive the car.
