Vehicle Detail

1968 MERCURY COUGAR ORIGINAL 302 F CODE AND 3 SPD TOPLOADER *FREE MARTI REPORT INCLUDED WITH SALE* Here is a classic American Muscle car for sale at a very reasonable price especially during these tough economic times. VIN Breakdown Data Plate Breakdown 8- 1968 65A- Cougar Hardtop R- Build San Jose F- Madras Blue 91- Cougar Hardtop 2K- Light Aqua Decor Bucket Seats F- 302-2V Engine 30L- Build Date Nov, 30 1967 51- Denver Ordering District 2- 2.79 Standard Rear Axle 1- 3 Speed Manual Transmission Vehicle shows approximately 94,000 miles. Vehicle has power brakes with manual steering. Original blue air cleaner is included but not shown in pics. Please look at all pics. Engine, Tranny and rearend appear to be original to the car but I am unsure. I was told it was numbers matching but I have not inquired or researched on engine numbers or tranny numbers. Data plate is still on the door along with vin tag in dash. According to the previous owner this vehicle had a minor restoration approximately 10 years ago which included quarter patches, new trunk panels and extensions and a nice original Madras Blue Paint Job. 12 years went by and the car sat inside a garage and outside. The paint maintained pretty well to what I would consider driver quality. Minimal rust around lower passenger door lip, mostly inside bottom of door and small hole (appears smaller than a dime) at front of driver's quarter. Minimal rust around hood lip and deck lid. Body is super solid and quarter patches along with trunk were supposedly done by a body shop and they were done right. I was going to have a full resto started on this car but I found another Olds 442 instead that will require alot more attention but is my dream car. March 2011 this car received badly need Torque boxes X2, inner floors framesX2 and new floor patches. Vehicle was always supported with braces and never shifted or twisted. Extra precaution was taken with only one side being completed at a time. All work was done by a body shop technician and was done using appropiate tools and welding equipment as my automotive knowledge is limited. Nothing was epoxied or glued. Can still use some seam sealer and rubberized undercoating but I will let the new owner enjoy that work. All glass is intact with this car and is still in the car, nothing was removed. Glass shows normal 40 year old wear and tear. Weatherstripping appears to be original. Window mechanisms appear to work. Doors shut really nice and solid. Drivetrain is in what appears to be great running condition with my limited automotive experience. Clutch appears to engage/disengage nicely and the engine purrs really nice with no knocks or annoying ticking. Engine starts right up first time every time. Shifter works nicely and I do have the famous 3 speed shifter knob. Brakes will need to be looked over as the pedal is a little soft and they hardly stop the vehicle mechanic friend inspected and stated, shoes, wheel cyclinder and bleeding should do the trick. SHE DOES RUN AND YARD DRIVE NICELY. Front tires were off the car in some pics because of a brake inspection but vehicle will be rolling and able to be driven onto a trailer or delivery tractor and trailer vehicle. Suspension is still tight and not sagging and underneath of car is really clean with only surface rust and plenty of undercoating still intact. Worst part of car is probably the interior. It appears mostly all there including the front dash cover which cover the turn signal bulbs but is not shown in pics. Only thing I can see that is missing is the back half of one of the bucket seats. I have upholstery for the other bucket seats and it appears to be complete. Door panels look rought but are unclude along with what appears to be kick panels. I did not notice sill plates but new ones are $17.00. Most likely missing some other items such as interior nuts and bolts but I am sure any cougar enthusiast can figure this stuff out. I will reinstall the driver's seat before vehicle is sold so that someone could drive the car on a trailer but vehicle is not registered. Rear seat is complete and in nice shape will need to be cleaned and thats about it. Rear seat still has Buck tags underneath. No headliner in car. Vehicle is sold with no warranty and all sales are final. Please ask any questions you may have beforehand as I have limited automotive experience but can answer your questions with the assistance of my friendly mechanic/car restorer. No refunds or exchanges sorry, all sales final. Good luck and Happy biddingOn Mar-14-11 at 19:39:54 PDT, seller added the following information: USE BUY IT NOW AND GET A BRAND NEW 2" DUAL EXHAUST KIT WITH CHERRY BOMB TURBO MUFFLERS AND MANIFOLD DOWNPIPES INCLUDING H-PIPE STILL IN THE BOX INCLUDED. On Mar-15-11 at 10:10:32 PDT, seller added the following information: I noticed a small area of rust behind drivers small window. No rot or holes just surface rust which caused the paint to peel. The pictures of the car in the garage appear a little dark. The first picture outside shows the true color of the car. Please excuse all the dust on the car she really cleans up nicely. On Mar-15-11 at 11:21:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Yes all the gauges work on this car including: Speedometer, Temperature and Gas Gauge. Headlights work and open but drivers side headlight needs a little help closing appears the boot on the actuator is ripped. Sequencial tails work but have a few bulbs that are out. Brakes light work but have since removed brake light switch from behind brake pedal when floors were installed. This switch still works and will be included in the sale. Parking brake is complete will just have to be reattached as idler and hook were removed when floors were completed. ****MARTI REPORT JUST ARRIVED AND IS INCLUDED WITH THE CAR****
