Vehicle Detail

This auction is for my 2000 Volkswagen Passat GLS. It comes equipped with a 2.8L V6 engine. It currently has 114,609 original miles. I do drive it daily about 60 miles round trip for work, so the mileage will be slightly higher by auctions end. Overall this car is in great cosmetic condition. There is some paint chipping on the front and rear bumpers, but is very minor. The rest of the body is in like-new condition. I believe there is one very small dent on one of the passenger side doors, but it is really hard to see unless your looking at it at an angle. There are 2 small stone chips on the front windshield. They have not spread and they do not leak. With some epoxy, you could easily fill them in if you wanted to. The rest of the glass is good. The carpets in the car are in very good condition. There are no deep stains. A quick vacuum and/or shampoo and they look like new. The car has a leather interior. I just had the seats treated not to long ago. May just need a good wipe down, but in overall good condition. No tears or holes that I've seen. The interior also has the wood dash trim. The only piece missing is on the pop out cup holder. That piece broke off, but I still have it if you want to try and reattach it. The paint on the front door handles is a little worn but this is completly normal for this make and model. I am the second owner of this vehicle. It comes with a clear title and a clean carfax report. As I stated before, this car has a 2.8L V6 engine, which I believe produces 190 HP. The engine still runs very strong. I was told that there is a minor oil leak somewhere, but I have yet to discover where. I never see any oil leaking and have not had to add oil in between changes. I've had the oil and filter changed every 3000 miles. A full synthetic motor oil has always been used. This vehicle comes eqipped with many options such as power windows, locks and mirrors, AM/FM radio and cassette, single disc cd player, power moonroof. The 2 front seats are also heated, which is really nice in the winter. The vehicle is also equipped with ASR (Traction Control). The MPG is somewhere in the lower 20's. I have invested $5000 in this car in the last 5 months. I have had the spark plugs and wires replaced. It now has a brand-new power steering pump. 3 of the 4 O2 (oxygen) sensors have been replaced. I had the throttle body cleaned. Both pipes for the catalytic converter were replaced, totaling over $2200. The left pipe was replaced first at meinke and comes with a 1 year warrenty. The other pipe was replaced at my local VW dealership. I have all paper work for repairs done since i've owned the car. The transmission in this car is tiptronic, so you can manually shift it if you like. The transmission or something affecting the transmission has recently started having problems. The car does still drive. I still drive it everyday but it doesn't always shift properly when you try to give it more gas. If you baby it and let it gradually gain speed, everything is fine, but if you have a lead foot like myself and try to speed up quickly the rpm's will rise while your still maintaining the same speed. There is no jerk or anything like that. I tried to get it diagnosed but all the VW dealership did was replace one of the oxygen sensors and said it drives better. I have not noticed any change. This is the reason I am selling the car. It could be something minor like needing a fluid flush and refill or a speed or range sensor, or maybe even a clutch, I have no idea. I do not want to personally invest any more money into this vehicle. If the mechanics at the VW dealership can't simply plug in their computers and read a code, they have no idea what to do and I'm not playing trial and error with them at my expense. There are no warning lights on the dash and there are no codes showing on the OBD scanner, so like I said it could very well be something minor. I do love the car but I can no longer afford to maintain it. If you have any questions or if you would personally like to come see or test drive the vehicle, please e-mail me and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank You!On Mar-18-11 at 00:18:02 PDT, seller added the following information:Just wanted to make a couple things clear for all you bidders and watchers of my Passat. I still drive this car daily and it's not really as bad as I make it sound in my item description. The tranny does shift fine, my complaint is that it's not shifting when I think it should. Before I could hit the gas and speed up relatively fast, now its more of a gradual build up of speed. Almost seems a little sluggish in lower gears or from a stop. Often when trying to speed up when it is already in 5th gear, if I give it to much gas it will drop down to 3rd or 4th gear, which I'm told it's supposed to do to help you accelerate, but my worry is that it didn't do this before. This is the only reason the rpm's go up but then I upshift manually or if I back off the gas just a little, everything is fine. When I say it didn't do this before, I mean before some of the repairs such as the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors were replaced. So the car does feel different to me now. My fiance tells me I'm paranoid because I always want to go faster. Guess I have a need for speed. I don't know if the 4th and final oxygen sensor needs to be replaced or if it's something with the throttle body or maybe even a speed or range sensor. I don't know! Might just need new fuel injectors or fuel filter. I honestly don't think the tranny is bad because I'm surprised it hasn't died from just my normal driving to work everyday. My drive is 62 miles of nothing but big hills and sharp turns and occassional stops, ending with 80 mph on the highway. The owners manual actually says I'm supposed to gradually speed up, so I guess there's a little driver error on my behalf. I love this car, don't get me wrong but I am living paycheck to paycheck right now cause I bought this car for around $6000 and have put $5000 into it in the last 5-6 months, so it doesn't really matter how cheap of a repair it might be to fix, I simply do not have the money to fix it or else I would keep it. I hope this helps. Thank You!
