Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a well documented 1950 Ford V8 Custom Deluxe Tudor Sedan optioned with 3 speed on the column in Sheridan Blue with Gray Stripped Broadcloth interior. It has been painstakingly restored to original condition with no detail overlooked. This beautiful show quality car is an AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) National First Prize award winner and a 1998 Senior Car with numerous AACA Preservation awards. It received a complete frame off restoration, which took 12 years to complete. All chassis parts were disassembled, sandblasted and painted with the correct chassis black, including the frame, cross member, fender aprons, splash pans and wind deflectors, etc. The ventilation components and the heater blower motor housing were also media blasted and painted with the correct black paint. The engine compartment was completely detailed. The original 239 cu in V8 engine was professionally rebuilt with .030"over pistons, and has less than 800 miles on it since the work was done. Many new internal components were installed, including an NOS camshaft and adjustable lifters. The carburetor was rebuilt to OEM specs. The water pumps are rebuilt. The generator and the distributor are also rebuilt. The starter motor is a new remanufactured unit. An NOS fuel pump is installed. The clutch disc, pressure plate and throw out bearing are replaced. The steering box was rebuilt with new worm and sector shaft gears. The spindles and kingpins have been replaced. All nuts and bolts were re-plated to the correct finish, i.e. zinc or cadmium, etc. The wiring harness is a reproduction from Rhode Island Wiring. All suspension bearings, seals and pads have been replaced. The muffler and exhaust system are brand new. The brake lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders and brake shoes are new. The fuel tank is a Bob Drake reproduction. The fuel line and fittings were replaced. The generator and voltage regulator have metal identification tags riveted to them just like the originals. A new heavy duty radiator core has been brazed to the original frame, with new script hoses and clamps. The headlight bulbs are original, smoothed-faced GE sealed beams without the alignment tabs. All new Coker reproduction Firestone wide white wall tires are fitted all the way around, including the spare. The body panels are laser straight with specially selected front fenders and hood. Anything that was rusted or pitted was cut out and new metal was installed, including the rockers, passenger side floor pan and lower rear quarter panels. The body was painstakingly prepared and painted the original Sheridan Blue color in nitro cellulous lacquer and hand rubbed to a beautiful finish. All door, vent window and front and rear windshield rubber moldings and seals were replaced, as well as all window cat whiskers. The front and rear bumpers, grille components, hood ornament, trunk hinges and trunk handle are triple chrome plated. All stainless steel moldings and trim were polished to a brilliant luster. There are a few small imperfections on the trunk lid. The interior seats were re-upholstered in gray stripped broadcloth using a LeBaron Boney upholstery kit, which duplicates the original material and interior style. A matching gray headliner was also installed. The door panels were disassembled and pleated and upholstered using original materials. The assist straps/brackets were restored and re-upholstered by LeBaron Boney. A new rubber front floor mat has been installed, as well as a LeBaron Boney rear gray carpet and package tray as per original. The steering wheel was professionally restored and painted in the original off-white color. The horn button is NOS. The dashboard, “Magic Air” heater, and interior garnish moldings were stripped and painted to match the original dark gray metallic finish.
