Vehicle Detail
Up for Auction is one 1951 2 door Mercury project. Great car for your custom needs. Not nice enough that you would feel bad about chopping it and not bad enough for a parts car. I was planning on chopping it and putting in a 50 back glass. The floor was removed by the previous owner to put the body on a 70's GM chassis, though the frame on this one is in good condition. It was very thoroughly braced before the cutting began. The floor that you can see in the picture is from another Mercury and would need to be welded in before the bracing could be removed. New Inner rocker panels have been fabbed and will need to be installed as well. The gas filler door has been filled and the rear quarter and tail light opening have been replaced and a trunk has been started, but not finished. I found it in basically the condition that you see here. You can see the condition of the sheet metal from the pictures. The individual pieces vary from light surface rust to outright holes. The fenders have rust in the usual spots. The rear quarters have holes. The hood is in very good condition and free of the usual rot that you see on the front lip. Inner fenders are also in very good condition as well. The pile of parts that you see goes along with it of course. The front bumper that you see is from a 56 Desoto not mercury The car was originally an automatic car, (I'll make that available to the winner as well) so the rear that is in the car has the desirable 4.55 gear set and the automatic column. I have a clear VA title for this car. This is a No Reserve Auction On Mar-15-11 at 11:44:57 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to add a few things based on the Questions that I have had. Maybe I can clarify a few things and make it easier for us to do business together. 1) I appreciate the offers for trades, but I am not in a position to take trades on this one. 2) I do require a deposit. 500 dollars within 24 hours through PayPal. It is non-refundable. Cash in person is fine after that. No checks please. 3) I can help load it on a truck or trailer, just let me know and I can help with reasonable requests (including storage) once it is paid in full. 4) If you have ZERO Feedback please contact me before you bid. I know everyone has to start somewhere, but most folks start on a smaller auction. 5) I appreciate the offers to end the Auction early, but I am not interested. There is no "Buy it Now" price. I believe that letting the market set the price is fair for everyone, especially those who are watching and/or bidding on this Auction. 6) I feel silly even mentioning this one, but it has to be said. I will not take "if the deal falls through" offers. The car will go to someone who bids. I myself have snoozed through Auctions only to see it went for less than what I would have paid. And yes, I kicked myself for it as well. The best way to avoid that problem is to bid.
