Vehicle Detail
1979 HJ45 Toyota Land Cruiser Diesel; eBay can't recognize the VIN# HJ45034701 because it was manufactured before 1981. It's registered in the State of Oregon with the DMV. I hold title and own this vehicle free and clear. My son and I imported this Land Cruiser over three years ago from Australia. We purchased it from the original owner. We've imported several of these over the years and this one was in the best condition I've ever seen. I decided to keep it as my daily driver. A rare and hard to find Land Cruiser. A regretful sale as they say in Australia. These diesel engined Land Cruisers were never sold to the general public in the USA, though some found their way through industrail project sites. I have had no trouble finding parts. I have found them through local Toyota dealers or online overseas where they tend to be much cheaper due to being a more common vehicle in other countries. If you're looking for a great eco-friendly four wheel drive that can seat up to 11 people, haul a trailer, carry a safari load, gets up to 25 MPG and runs on B99 that was designed to go just about anywhere- you can't find a better rig (in my opinion). It's a great convesation starter and would also be perfect if you have a business you want to promote- people notice it. Some details: Right hand drive Seats 11 people and all the rear jump seats fold up (see photos). The rear side windows open Rated 1 ton vehicle 4.0 liter 6 cylinder diesel engine Four speed manual transmission The odometer and speedometer read in kilometers The roof and doors can be removed with a folding windshield this allowed for complete open-air experience.(I never removed them). Trailer hitch Has low miles - read details below The body has only 88,000 miles on it. Last summer I upgraded the engine from the original H diesel with 90HP to a completely rebuilt 2H diesel engine also imported from Australia. The 2H is a stronger diesel engine with 105HP. I've put close to 2,000 miles on it since having it installed and it runs excellent. It has a completely rebuilt fuel injection pump. It does not smoke. The fuel filter system allows it to run on anything from B99 biodiesel to regular diesel. Could even run on straight veg oil! The specs on this particular model and engine say it can get up to 25 MPG HWY. I have not tracked it that close, but one full tank lasts me a long time. It has an extra fuel tank with a pump that moves fuel into the main tank. The pump isn't hooked up at the moment, but it worked the last time I used it. The lower bench seat upholstery for both the front and rear seats replaced due to age and left the upper backrest portion original upholstery since it was in good shape- See photos. The paint inside and out is all original and looks great considering its age. While it's a beautiful Land Cruiser, it is not perfect and its never been fully restored. Its over 30 years old and there is some natural wear and tear; the seals on the doors could be replaced, there are small dings (mainly on the back area) you can see up close. There is one small (size of a dime rock chip in the windshield) and other small imperfections due to age (no big dents and no body rust through). I left all the bull bars on, but they can easily be removed since they're bolted on. The air filter is an aftermarket the original owner had installed. I have the stock engine compartment air filter case (comes with sale) and I had thought of putting an Australian snorkel on. You have choices. It has what appears to be an after market air conditioner which I never used and I don't believe it is hooked up. All and all this is a classic model hard to find Land Cruiser in nearly all original condition with a completely professional rebuilt Toyota 2H engine with very low miles. Tires are worn, but no thread is showing- see photos. It's been my daily driver and great for camping, road trips, going high into the mountains, tracking through the snow and much more.
