WHAT A BEAUTIFUL 1971 BUICK GS CONVERTIBLE! THIS CAR HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL. FIRST OFF THERE WERE ONLY 10,095 GS AUTOMOBILES BUILT BY GM IN 1971 AND OF THOSE ONLY 902 CONVERTIBLES MADE! OF THOSE ONLY 246 BIG BLOCK 455'S WERE MADE. ACCORDING TO THE BODY PLATE, CAR WAS FIRE RED (75) AND THE CONVERTIBLE TOP AND INTERIOR WAS BLACK (138). I DO NOT KNOW WHAT ENGINE CAME WITH THIS CAR AS I BOUGHT IT WITH A 1975 455 BLOCK AND TH400 TRANSMISSION. ENGINE WAS DEGREASED AND PAINTED BUICK RED. B4B INTAKE INSTALLED, NEW PAIR OF HEADS INSTALLED AND BRAND NEW CHROME 455 HEADERS INSTALLED. BRAND NEW OIL PAN INSTALLED AS WELL. QUADRAJET CARB AND ORIGINAL CHROME LID RAM-AIR AIR CLEANER ROUND OUT THE TOP. TRANSMISSION IS A 70 MODEL TH400. ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION HAVE BEEN BOLTED IN FOR TRANSPORTING PURPOSES ONLY... BODY TAKEN OFF THE FRAME AND FRAME WAS BLASTED, AND PAINTED GM BLACK. ORIGINAL POSI TRACTION REAREND WAS REINSTALLED WITH ALUMINUM GS COVER AND ORIGINAL REAR SWAYBAR. FRONTEND WAS COMPLETELY REBUILT WITH NEW ROTORS, NEW A-ARMS AND BALL JOINTS, NEW CENTERLINK, SWAYBAR BUSHINGS AND DISC BRAKES. NEEDS FUEL LINES AND BRAKE LINES REINSTALLED. I HAVE ALL BRAND NEW ONES. BIG BLOCK SPRINGS REPLACED WITH GM NOS PAIR ALONG WITH BRAND NEW SHOCKS AND FRAME TO BODY BUSHINGS. BRAND NEW FRAME MOTOR MOUNTS AND ENGINE MOUNTS PUT ON. RIMS ARE 15 X7 BUICK OEM RALLY WHEELS AND CENTER CAPS ARE NOS BUICK 71 ONLY SILVER BACKGROUND CENTER CAPS STILL IN THEIR BOXES. ALL 4 HAVE B F GOODRICH RADIALS MOUNTED ON THEM. 255/60R15 ON THE FRONTS AND 275/60R15 ON THE REARS... THE BAD: THE BODY NEEDS WORK. SMALL AMOUNT OF RUST ON REAR QUARTERS BUT THE FLOORS NEED THE MOST WORK. IT SEEMS THEY RUSTED RIGHT WHERE THE SEATBELT RETRACTORS ARE LOCATED ON BOTH SIDES. BACKSEAT IS GOOD AS WELL AS THE TRUNK. (2) RUSTFREE DOORS INSTALLED AND POWER WINDOWS WITH BRAND NEW 1971 DOOR PANELS WITH ALL HARDWARE TO INCLUDE BRAND NEW WINDOW FELTS. ALL GAUGES WORKED GREAT. GLASS IS ALL GOOD TO INCLUDE CONVERTIBLE TOP WINDOW (WHICH IS GLASS). GS SPORT STEERING WHEEL IS REALLY NICE AND CLEAN. DASH IS PERFECT TO INCLUDE ORIGINAL AM RADIO AND ALL GAUGES TO INCLUDE POWER TOP SWITCH. REAR SEAT IS RECOVERED TO PERFECTION IN ORIGINAL 71 (BLACK) MATERIAL AND INSTALLED AND FRONT WAS A BENCHSEAT BUT I SWAPPED THAT FOR A NICE PAIR OF BUCKETS. YES, ORIGINAL STRATO BUCKETS WITH HEADRESTS AND I ALSO HAVE A SET OF THE BUCKET SEAT INSTALLATION BRACKETS CUT OUT FROM A BUCKET SEAT CAR. BRAND NEW BLACK CARPET STILL IN BOX. POWER TOP WITH BRAND NEW HOSE KIT WORKS GREAT. I HAVE (2) GEM NOS INNER FENDERS AND A RUSTFREE NOS (SLIGHTLY USED) CORE SUPPORT WITH A PERFECT PASSENGER OUTER FENDER AND AN OK DRIVERS ONE. ALL HAVE BEEN INSTALLED. BRAND NEW BATTERY TRAY AND ALL BUSHINGS INSTALLED. BOTH FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS ARE CLEAN AND SHINE NICE. (1) SMALL DENT IN REAR 71 BUMPER SO I INSTALLED A GEM 72 MODEL BUMPER. THE 71 REAR BUMPER GOES WITH THE CAR.
