Vehicle Detail

1982 Jeep CJ-7 JAMBOREE Edition - 1982 marked the 30 year anniversary for the Jeep Jamboree and Jeep celebrated with this Special Edition Jeep (Jamboree Edition). There were only 1000 of them made - All basically Identical (Gold with Black Trim). This is No. 287 (of the 1000). I am the 3rd owner and I have owned it since 1994. I purchased from an attorney (2nd owner) who owned it for 10 years and kept the Jeep in the garage while his Land Rover was in the carport. This Jeep has been babied! The Jeep was manufactured with the 4.2 Liter straight 6....which was great...BUT, after 12 years of frustrating power, we did a Corvette Engine Conversion. The vette engine has been in since 2006. Engine is out of a 1994 Corvette. Still a "normal" 4WD Jeep. It was a FULL conversion with not only the vette engine, but transmision change (Automatic 700R4) and computer. The mileage is accurate; currently with 156,153 miles. The vette motor had about 52,000 miles on it and I have put about 12,000 miles (in the 5 years since the conversion) on it since the conversion; so the vette motor has about 64,000. The Jeep runs like no other Jeep - on road or off...but on road is sick. Features: * 300 Horsepower Corvette Engine. * 700R4 Automatic Transmission. * Art Carr "Z-shift" Shifter - put in "4" and it is like having in "D"...or use "Z-Shift" to control shifting. * Fuel Injected - Fully Computerized (from the Corvette). * Aluminum Radiator. * Tranny Cooler. * Dual FLOWMASTER Exhaust. * Re-built Front / Rear Driveshafts. * Heavy Duty 1-Piece Rear Axle (Replaced standard 2 piece). * 4:10 Gears. * 1" Body Lift (NO Suspension Lift). * 32x11.50x15 BFG M/Ts on Mickey Thompson Wheels. * Full HARD Top with Doors. * Front Seats - "Super Seats" by Bestop * New Carpet and newly Upholstered Backseat. * Tilt Steering The Jeep is in excellent condition. This IS an ARIZONA Jeep. The paint IS Original and very, very good. The tires have most of tread (about 10,000 miles on them). Current things not done - cracked dash (see pics), needs windshield wipers, missing knob for headlights. The Jeep has only had Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic SINCE the conversion. I only run it on Super Unleaded. The Jeep looks great, but it looks original...it does NOT look like it should be a rocket on wheels (Total Sleeper). The Jeep does NOT have A/C. We did install the A/C compressor from the Vette which is engaged on the serpentine belt... If A/C is wanted, it should be a very easy add. But I am an AZ boy that doesn't need it. The conversion was done by a professional shop. The owner and I have been friends since we were children. I do not do anything halfway...neither does he. The conversion was done right and it is tight. I have NO issues with the jeep. Please do not hesitate to email me with questions. I can send more pictures if you would like. Explanation: The first few years I did not have any trouble with emissions. Then I started failing and having to tweak and/or re-build the carb every couple years. After the conversion, I fail the gas cap every time. I believe they do not have a correct test cap for the old jeeps, but they deny that. Every 2 years (how often it needs emissions) it fails the gas cap, I go down to the local AutoZone and purchase a new one, go back and it passes... Doesn't make sense. The emission results is NO WHERE near failing. The emission results are more in line with the 94 Vette, but the standards are for an 82 jeep (truck standards). There are absolutely NO emissions issues (except you may need to buy a new gas cap every 2 years).
