1961 Mercedes-Benz Ponton 190 Thanks for looking! I have a 1961 Mercedes-Benz "Ponton" 190 for sale. It was bought as a restoration project and it was done as much as it could by Mercedes-Benz technicians and now my wife wants me to make room in the garage for a freezer. Jason *Need to add that the odometer is broken and that the actual mileage is unknown. NARRATIVE for the history of vehicle: The vehicle was purchased from a private party in Seattle in late 2007. It was parked in a garage and hadn't been driven for quite some time. I had the vehicle towed to Phil Smart Mercedes-Benz in Seattle, WA. A long time friend and Mercedes-Benz Master Technician agreed to "check it out". The car was worked on the car in order to be drivable. At that time, it was driven to my friend's house and worked on. It was inspected mechanically front to back. It was determined the drivetrain to be very strong. Over time the suspension, steering, brakes were rebuilt. The fluids and filters, belts and connectors were all changed. Cosmetically, the rear bumper was removed and repaired then re-chromed. Otherwise, all time and money was spent on mechanical issues. It runs and drives extremely well. It has only been driven during my possession in fair weather, no rain or otherwise.
