Vehicle Detail
This vehicle is RE-LISTED due to a phony buyer. Re-listing #124-310-6456 (POC: "Vam") I purchased this 1989 Mustang LX in July of 2009. The purpose of this machine was to be transportation for one of my daughters - then a 16 year old, and the promise of buying and repairing - and repairing - and repairing, etc., seemed logical at the time. As you can see from the photos, the car is in very good shape. Its body is very good, and its original paint is quite black, although there are scratches and chips on the engine hood, flaked-away paint on the roof, some surface rust (see photo), and some minor damage & scraped paint near the gas filler cap cover (see photo). Since 2009, I have personally replaced the battery (see photo), the alternator (see photo), re-wired the wiring harness for the alternator (see photo), replaced the contact "ends" for both alternator connectors (both new), replaced all seat belts with factory-"like" original seat belts ($300), replaced the original faded-out headlamps with 'American Muscle Car-brand' after-market headlamps (>$250), replaced the wheels with 'American Muscle Car-brand' after-market "Pony-like" wheels (again, all 4 new & expensive), purchased four (4) new high performance tires (16") which have less than 200 miles on them (see photos); over $1,400 in tires & wheels alone. I also installed an "intelligent" electric thermostat controller for the engine radiator fan, installed an after-market electric fan for the condenser (there was never one installed from the factory) which can be disabled by removing the fuse, replaced both door seals and hatchback seals with new replacements, replaced the exhaust manifold (twice), installed a new exhaust system (including a new catalytic converter and muffler), installed a new radiator, a new ignition solenoid, new belts, new hoses, and purchased & installed a new Sony CD sound system and two speakers. I also had the timing belt replaced, installed a new water pump, a new thermostat, flushed the cooling system, ran Royal Purple oil & filter (still installed), purchased a new distributor and had it installed & timed, and of course installed new wires, plugs, distributor cap, and so on. It has been an experience that I do not ever want to repeat. I also had a brand-new heater coil installed last winter. That was also quite expensive to have installed. New hoses going to and from it, of course, including a "Prestone" flush port (accessible on the starboard side of the engine compartment). However, this is a 2.3 liter engine that has some sort of timing issue and does not currently run. And friends, I give up. Likewise, I have had this vehicle in-and-out of the shop so many times, and spent so much money on it - in every conceivable way (hundreds then and now thousands in one-time, or different mechanic scenario repairs), that it is now time for someone else to take over at the helm... perhaps someone who knows what they're doing. I'm sure that someone, somewhere can take this car and either "replace" the engine (which would be my recommendation), or repair the engine (which I do not recommend unless you really know what you're doing). Let me repeat my last comment there... I recommend that whoever purchases this car either: (1) replace the engine with a salvage 2.3 liter engine, or (2) repair the existing engine out-of-the-car on a engine stand, or perhaps (3) repairing the engine in-car. I have priced the car to sell in its current condition. As you can see, I have a 100% satisfaction record on eBay. I would like to continue this trend. The car is being sold "AS-IS" with no implied or suggested warranty of any kind. Likewise, and although I do have a PayPal account, I am not willing to sell this car with a PayPal transaction. Purchase will be in person in either CASH or CASHIERS CHECK. I hold the CLEAR TITLE for this vehicle in my name. Very crisp and clean too, not that it matters. As a quick-review of the eBay criteria above: Condition: Body is quite excellent in my opinion. The paint seems original. However, it needs to be painted due to the scratches on the hood, chipped paint & surface rust on the roof, and age of the paint. Likewise, the scrape near the gas filler cap cover needs to be sanded and painted along with a new paint job. The interior is quite good in my opinion, particularly for a 1989 vehicle. Some plastic trim cover pieces are missing some screws. However, the seats are in very good condition and the overhead liner is also very good. It looks like someone cared for the vehicle over time. NOTE: Please see the photo of the Right Rear (aft of the gas cap). That is the area that got scraped by another car. This photo is the "damage" referred to in the vehicle report. I don't consider it significant. However, there it is for your review. Features: Perhaps like all LX Mustangs (I don't know), it has electric windows, power door locks (which sometimes stick), an overhead chrome flexible lamp (which works), cruise control (which worked intermittently; I suspect a linkage problem), a rear spoiler (as if, a 2.3 engine could ever provide sufficient power to necessitate body 'spoiling'), new tires & new wheels, and new headlights. History: I am not the original owner. I purchased this car from an individual in 2009. Shipping: I don't know much about shipping a vehicle. However, if you prepared to pay for shipping and coordinate the actions necessary to make it happen, and are really wanting this car and you live a great distance away (i.e., you cannot be here in person) then I would still require a cashier's check for payment (as stated below - within 72 hours of the sale). Payment: Full Payment is due within 72 HOURS of the eBay TRANSACTION. This means, that I will need to see either YOU with CASH (or a cashier's check) or your Cashier's Check within 72 hours of the transaction. Please only bid on this car if you have the funds ready-to-go at that time. Bottom Line: If you know how to repair Mustang engines (or have the wherewithal to make it happen), this car could be a real treasure for you. It has a great body & interior, and has a lot of new parts (e.g., wheels, tires, lights, etc.), but as for me... I am out of gas on this project. The car will need to be towed. Last: This item will be listed locally. The SELLER reserves the right to sell the item directly to a local BUYER prior to this auction's end.
