Vehicle Detail

This is a 1973 Charger SE. Before you go any further know that this is a project that is near completion. I have lost storage and interest, so what you see is what you'll get. You will NOT be able to fly in and drive this car home. It is sold with a bill of sale only. I will mention both good and bad and describe to the best of my ability. The good will come first as this is a highly optioned car. It is a big block car with air conditioning and automatic. The motor is new and only driven about 25 miles at best. Here is the option list from the fender tag: Vin Number Charger: WP29M3G238517Body Type: W = Dodge Coronet / Charger Price Class: P = Premium Body Type: 29 = 2 Door Sports Hardtop Engine: M = 400 175HP(net) OR 185HP(net) 1-2BBL 8 CYL Year: 3 = 1973 Sequence Number: 238517 = 138517th Vehical Built Code Description E63 400-2 Barrel 72-76 D34 TorqueFlite Automatic Transmission WP29 W = Dodge Coronet / Charger P = Premium 29 = 2 Door Sports Hardtop M3G M = 400 175HP(net) OR 185HP(net) 1-2BBL 8 CYL 3 = 1973 G = St. Louis, MO, USA 238517 Sequence Number '238517' EW1 Paint Code: White / Alpine White V3F6 Trim Grade/Style/Color V = V Class 3 = Cloth and Vinyl Split Bench w/ Center Armrest F6 = Green MF6 Upper Door Frame: Unknown At This Time 705 Date Built: 7 / 05 / 1973 265053 Order Number: 265053 V1F Roof Type OR Color: Full Vinyl Top - Green U Built to Specifications for USA Order 341 Unknown At This Time G11 Tinted Glass All G37 Left Hand Remote, Right Hand Manual Chrome Mirrors H51 Single Air /w Heater J25 3 Speed Variable Wipers J52 Inside Hood Release L31 Hood / Fender Mount Turn Signal M21 Roof Drip Rail Moldings M25 Wide Sill Molding M26 Wheel Lip Molding M31 Belt & Hood Molding M36 Rear Bumper Periphery R11 Music Master Radio AM V5X Black - Mouldings - Protective Insert Body Side V7F Accent Stripes – Green What's different is that the car is now lime green as seen in the pictures. The paint is fairly fresh within the last two years. There are a few blemishes and a couple of chips. I do have some touch up paint and it will go with the car. The paint is base coat clear and shines well even though it's never been block water sanded and buffed. The interior of the trunk has been painted also and looks very nice. It even has the deluxe kit inside hiding the wheel wells and spare tire cover. The jack and instructions are long gone. The motor was back in the car before the lime green was applied, so the engine compartment is just a black inside (not rusty or neglected just does not "look" as nice). The bad: Since then the car has sat outside as my storage space was lost. The engine is non matching but is a .030 over 400 big block. Has a 292/509 Competition cam and a brand new Holly street avenger manual choke carb. The heads are nothing special except that they have been built to accept unleaded gas and the cam. The compression is 9:5. Not a total power house but sure does sound like it. There is no chrome valve covers or anything flashy under the hood with exception of the vacuum canister, dip stick, and brake cover. The car will need two major items before it can be titled and driven. The first will be the drivers side leaf spring. It's the odd oval but have been told that the 72 charger springs (about $350) with the round eyelets will be a direct replacement. My plans were to change the rear axle and put a spring relocation kit on to set those wide tires inside the wheel wells a little further. Many people have mixed opinions about the tires. This will be your preference. Keep the current set up or change it. Also the plans were to change out the rear end. It does not have an 8.75 as many people tell me they "think" it should have. Those people are wrong. Anyway it does have a crappy rear end ratio (2 something). I was going to replace it with a 9.25 rear end equipped with a 355 gear ratio. Doing this will wake that big heavy car up and work a lot better with the cam that's in it. Currently 35 mph is off idle. I have the parts to do this and are placed in the trunk. (meaning u-bolts, spring bolts, spring perches, all but gear oil). The isolators can then be removed and discarded. Currently the tires are mounted with spacers (another reason not to drive anywhere except up on a trailer). Due to the whole rear end thing, the exhaust is not complete. It's headers and header mufflers only. Full exhaust here on ebay is under 400 bucks. The second issue is after the car has run for 20 minutes or so it gets hot. There is not any small hose from the radiator fill to a remote overflow, the heated antifreeze will blow out smoke from the small tube (radiator is new). I assume there is a thermostat issue, I do not believe there is anything wrong with the head gaskets. The gage does not work so it's hard to tell, but the car has not gotten hot enough to shut off or anything like that. This is a reason not to drive anywhere except up on the trailer. The interior: Basically all brand new. There are power windows and power door locks. It has two bucket seats and no center console. It does have the rally dash with the 150 mph speedo and clock. The clock does not work, nor does the fuel or heat gage. The sending unit in the tank is new, so there is something maybe unplugged or not grounded correctly. The bezel has been cut out to place a square style newer radio inside long before I got the car. I have an original style radio, but didn't get around to buying a bezel (roughly $100 with gages here on ebay). I thought maybe someone would want something more than an AM radio anyway. The remote drivers mirror will need a new end at the door panel as the mounting nut broke. The interior looks VERY nice, but with the little TLC on the gages it will look sweet. I was very concerned that the lime green and interior green would not look good together, but it does not look bad at all. The car has air conditioning. The pump and most of the parts are bolted to the motor but will need a couple of lines and charged to work ($200 at most). I'm sure I will get a lot of email with a lot of questions. The tires are nothing special on front but are newer with very few miles. The back are mickey thompson's 15.5 wide and few miles as well. All are mounted on Cragar SS rims which are average driver condition. The brakes are new but need bled as the interior light is on in the dash. Shocks are stock replacement in the front and air in the rear. The front bumper assembly is from a 72 charger, but looks pretty good. I have the SE grills and they can go with, but they do not look as nice. I wanted the hidden headlight look, but never got around to that either.
