Vehicle Detail

This VW Van is a real diamond in the rough. The body is amazing for a 35 year old vehicle. There is a little surface rust around windows and along the bottom near the real wheel well on the driver's side (there is a picture of this). This is the worst spot on the entire van. The floor boards are very sold (see picture). There has been a little repair done for minor rust some time in the past but the van doesn't appear to have had any real damage to sides or front. The sliding door works and the track is not rusted out. I think to make the the body very solid and look nice would take minimal work. The van does need a new battery tray. The interior is pretty much what you'd expect. Front seats are functional but not great. It has the middle and back seats. Mechanically the van needs mostly maintainence work. It could use a tune up, a muffler, and it's leaking a little oil around the push-rod tubes. Compression is good and according to all the research I could do the milage is original. The van spent all but the last year in Kentucky. I bought the van a year ago and intended to completely redo it. I put it in the garage where it has stayed for the last year except for an occasional outing around town. I did have a new axle put in right after I got it. The transmission shifts well, it doesn't pop out of gear and the van seems to have plenty of power. Sometime during the year in my garage, it has developed a fuel leak. My guess is that a fuel line from the tank dry-rotted or came loose. I'm sure it's nothing major but I'm not running it now because I don't have time to get this fixed. The battery is dead from sitting but I did jump it and drive it outside for pictures. If I had time and money to work on the bus, I'd keep it. Body wise it's a rare find, especially in this part of the country. I think a handy mechanic/type could make it into a daily driver pretty easily. I'm pricing it for a quick sale with a low reserve. I'm selling it as a project van. You'll need to tow or trailer it home. I'm not an expert, but I'll try to give you honest quick responses if you have questions. On Feb-22-11 at 07:10:11 PST, seller added the following information: Reserve reduced~Buy It Now Price Added Don't Miss This Deal
