Vehicle Detail
Here is a really great classic truck, a 1972 GMC 2500. This truck has vintage styling and reliable big-block V8 power. I am only the second owner of the truck - it was bought new in Boulder, CO and has never left the state for any length of time. This truck has only 105k ORIGINAL miles! That's less than 3000 miles a year! This is not a worn-out, beat up work truck that was patched up and called "restored", it is a SURVIVOR that still proudly wears its original paint. Why buy a newer truck and lose money the minute you drive it off the lot, when you could own this one and watch the value go up? The body on this truck is unbelievable... original paint, never wrecked, and a classic two-tone paint scheme. The color (medium bronze) is beautiful, and the white really sets it off. All glass is excellent. The windows roll up and down easily. The doors, hood, and tailgate all open and close easily, just like new - no need to slam anything. There are a few small blemishes as you'd expect on an unrestored truck. The front drivers fender was nudged against something, slightly flattening the lip around the wheelwell, and the passenger mirror bracket bumped something and lightly damaged the door. There is rust under the toolbox door (this is very common on the toolbox bedsides), a tiny spot on the lower corner of the driver's door (I can cover it with my thumb), a touch in each rear corner of the bed floor near the tailgate, and each front cab support is just starting to show rust. My description might make this sound rustier than it really is - I'm quite familiar with this style of Chevy truck and this one is VERY nice. I just want to be sure to mention every little bit so there are no disappointments or surprises. All other areas are great - both inner and outer rocker panels, cab corners, rear cab supports, lower front fenders, etc are rust free original GM sheetmetal. This truck has not had any body work or bondo work done, nothing has been covered up. The truck was used to carry a camper most of its life, so the inside of the bed is flat and solid, not wavy or dented. Overall this is a great-looking truck that turns heads whenver I drive it! The interior of the vehicle is in amazing condition as well. Yes, the green is the factory color scheme, it's listed on the option sheet on the glovebox door. Pretty much everything is in great shape... floor mat, door panels, arm rests, sunvisors, etc are all in very nice condition. The original glovebox is not torn or water-damaged. The dash has not been cut for a larger radio, and houses an older aftermarket Pioneer radio which works well. The original steering wheel is cracked and has a lace-on cover, and the horn works. The dash pad has a couple cracks. The heater controls work properly with no broken levers (very common problem on these trucks). The only real flaw to report is some wear showing on the seat (see the pictures below), not bad for 39 years old, and a testament to the easy life this truck has lived. The original jack and spare tire tools are stowed behind the seat where they belong, and the original owner's manual is in the glovebox. Power comes from the original 402 cubic inch V8 engine with a 4 barrel carburetor. It starts easily and runs well. It has good oil pressure, and does not produce any smoke or unusual noises. It's completely original with exhaust manifolds, Quadrajet carburetor, factory air filter, original distributor, etc (no wanna-be hotrod stuff here). The TH400 3-speed automatic transmission handles the power with ease, and shifts perfectly. The Dana rear axle has 4.10 gears. The tires are in good condition, but one of the hubcaps is missing. The truck has dual exhaust that exits in front of the rear tires. Being a 1972 model, this truck has lots of goodies from the factory, like power disc brakes and power steering. As a heavy-duty model, it also has other nice options such as a 4-core radiator, rear leaf springs, and a front swaybar. It also has a factory (not dealer-added or aftermarket) rear sliding window and auxiliary fuel tank. The truck is equipped with factory air conditioning. It appears the system is intact and complete. There is no belt on the compressor, and I cannot turn it by hand. However, the SYSTEM IS STILL PRESSURIZED. It shouldn't take much to have nice cold air blowing on you this summer. This is really a nice truck to drive... it simply does not drive like an "old truck"! The steering and suspension are very tight and responsive, not all worn out. There are no squeaks or rattles, and the cab is quiet and pleasant even at highway speeds. The truck starts easily, runs great, and has plenty of power. The power steering and power disc brakes make the truck very easy for anyone to drive. EVERYTHING WORKS! The heater controls operate smoothly, the fan operates on all speeds. Windshield wipers, turn signals, dash lights, interior lights, horn, emergency brake, etc ALL WORK PROPERLY. Every single light bulb is working... all clearance lights, both license plate lights, all the dash lights, etc. The only thing I can find that does not work is wiper squirters (needs a diaphragm kit), and the air conditioning as mentioned above. Included with the truck are a clean Colorado title, the original owner's manual, a set of tire chains, and a few spare parts found under the seat - fan belts, distributor rotor, plug wires, etc. Overall this is a great truck, it's hard to find trucks that haven't had poor repair work done to them and aren't completely rusted out. This one has survived the years very well. Heck, it even has all four of its original T3 headlights! If you have any questions, please ask them prior to placing your bid. If you are local, or know someone who is, please consider coming to see the truck in person.
