Vehicle Detail

This is a 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III in excellant condition. Based on the condition of the vinyl dash pad, this car appears to be garage kept for most of it's life. All the options (INCLUDING THE REAR WINDOWS) are in good working order except as noted later. This is a western car sold new in California. The California emissions equipment is all intact and functional including the electronic spark vacuum delay system (this has a sensor on the speedometer line connected to an electronic box behind the dash that delays the vacuum to the distributor until the vehicle speed passes 35 MPH). The cold air intake system is intact. The cold engine auto choke fast idle system works on cold start up. The body is in fantastic shape! There is no rust or collision damage. The car has been repainted the original white. I can see some overspray under the hood. There is a small dent in the right front fender as shown in the picture and the left front fender has a deep scratch as shown in that picture. The trunk lid is perfect with none of the usual rust out on the lower lip. On the inside of teh trunk lid the "Paint OK" stamps are still visible. The bumpers and ends are in great shape with some light scratches. All the chrome is great with no dents or pits. The tail light lenses are perfect and the front lenses are excellent except for a blemish on the inside of the right front. The rear lamp fiber optic monitoring system is working as well. The interior is in excellant shape for this year. The leather is still pliable and not cracked. The outside of the driver's back rest is worn through as shown in the picture. The carpet is fanatastic with no tears, stains or discoloration. The headliner is perfect. All the power windows operate, including the rear ones. These quit working when these cars were new. These retract back and forth into the roof sail panel. The power door locks work. Power antenea works smoothly. The seat back release solenoids operate when the doors open. All the warning lights on the inside roof work (Seat Belts reminder, Headlamp Doors, Trunk Open, Even the Door Ajar lights). The rear vent vacuum switch is intact and operates the rear vent door. The rear rubber water drains are intact, so no water leaked into the trunk. Original jack and spare tire setup are intact and looks like it has never been used. Both the power seats now work in all 6 directions. The AC system turns on, but of course no cold air. The ATC (Automatic Temperature Control) system works, air flows from the right outlets when the lever is moved and heat comes on when the temp is turned up. Rear window defroster works. The rim blow horn control has been replaced and works. The clock even runs if you tap on it. The cruise control system comes on, but will not set speed. All the parts are intact under the hood and the control unit looks new. The Sure-Trak light is on and I do not hear the relay cycling on the unit underneath the car so I am not sure what is wrong there. The brakes do work great. The pittman arm and upper control arm bushings have been replaced so the front end is tight and the car steers great. There are no leaks from underneath the car. The freeze plugs look new. The car runs cool. It does appear the heads have been redone as they look cleaner and newer than the rest of the engine. There are no oil leaks on the engine anywhere. There is an exhast leak at the right exhaust manifold to head seam, but it quiets down when the engine warms up. I had the car sitting in storage for the past year, so now I hear a faint lifter tap from the right front, but the engine starts right up and runs smooth. The transmission shifts through all the gears firmly and smoothly. The power steering works great with no leaks. The wiper system (through the powere steering system) works with no leaks, including the washer system. When the engine is cold, press the gas pedal a few times, turn the key and the engine fires right up and fast idles. Once it warms up, tap the pedal and it slows to idle speed. The carb is very clean and appears to have been rebuilt. These carbs were tempermental even when new, so it is amazing that this one works perfectly. With the engine warm, a touch of the key and the engine fires right up. Mechanically, this car is very good shape and has been very well cared for. I have had it for two years, but lost my storage and I do not want to let it sit outside any longer. The canvas top has been replaced in the past, and there are some wrinkles in it. I tried to show them in the pictures. The dash pad is perfect. No cracks or warping as these were prone to do. I really think this car spent the majority of it's life out of the sun. All four hupcaps are intact and the tires are in good shape with a lot of tread left. They are a few years old. I have the owner's manual and the ACTUAL shipping invoice (not a reprint) from Ford Motor Company via Marti Auto Works. The Marti report indicates this is one of 419 with this paint/trim combination. I also have the owner card and a reprint of the window sticker. Overall this is a great car in great condition with a few minor flaws. The majority of these cars for sale have major issues that make it a pain to enjoy these cars. This car does not. I hope this is enough information, please ask any questions. I have a clear Nevada title in my name. Can keep the car here for up to 30 days after sale with no additional charge. On Feb-19-11 at 17:44:46 PST, seller added the following information: ****Added Saturday February 19, 5:44 P.M.**** I want to add that I am now including a box in the trunk full of extra parts such as; Tail light assemblies, headlight actuators, window and seat switches and bezels. A full set of the chrome trim dash bezels that surround the gauges. And a complete jack assembly with hold down plate, hook, wing nut and bumper hook that does not have the surface rust like the original one in the picture.
