Vehicle Detail

THIS VEHICLE CAN NOT BE PURCHASED BY A CALIFORNIA RESIDENT AS I CAN NOT SMOG THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT ON THE CAR. OUT OF STATE OR COUNTRY BUYERS ONLY!! 1981 Datsun 280 ZX Turbo- 5 speed- clean title- We acquired the vehicle and didn't realize the aftermarket equipment on the car- it has the stock turbo with an aftermarket greedy blowoff valve, aftermarket fuel psi regulator and an aftermarket fuel rail. The miles are not actual showing 19210- The mechanic we use inspected the car- the brakes are @70% in the front, 60% in the rear. The transmission shifts fine in all gears and the clutch is tight. The coolant temp never gets above 140 degrees so it may need a coolant temp sensor. The car runs a little rough at cold start for about 10 for 15 seconds then smooths out- heck it is 30 years old. The turbo is good and the tires have good depth. The heater/fan unit is not connected- the previous owner purchased a unit but never connected it to the car so you have the unit. The odometer, speedometer, lights, signals all work, but the horn does not. There are also aftermarket PRO COMP gauges. The leather is in overall decent condition with no rips or tears. The t-tops are in nice shape with the covers in the back. The dash has one crack in it. The car has been repainted at some point in its life and the black paint looks good. There are two sets of rims to the car. There is no rust corrosion on the car. If you have any further question, please email me. Thanks for looking, MikeOn Feb-09-11 at 06:05:41 PST, seller added the following information: question about the 5 speed? It has one- google the car and the information comes up that appear to have been available overseas?? 1981 A turbocharged model (using the L28ET engine rated at 180 bhp (134 kW; 182 PS)) @5600RPM and 203 ft•lbs (275n•m) of torque @2800RPM was introduced to the US export market in 1981. At the same time the Japanese domestic market received L20ET (2L turbo) in both manual and automatic transmissions. Nissan's concerns about reliability of their own 5-speed transmission when combined with the additional torque of the 2.8L turbo engine, meant no manual transmission was offered with the L28ET engine in 1981. Other export markets (the UK and Australia) continued to receive only the normally aspirated 2.8L engine with manual or automatic transmission. The turbocharged 280ZX used a single Garrett AiResearch TB03 with an internal wastegate, and no intercooler. Nissan's design philosophy at the time led to boost being limited to a sedate 6.8psi (0.47 bar), despite the lowered compression of the turbo engine (7.4:1 with dished, cast aluminum pistons). Additional changes over the naturally aspirated engine included a higher volume oil pump, an oil cooler on automatic models, and Nissan's Electronic Concentrated Control System (ECCS). At the time of release into the US market, the 280ZX Turbo was the fastest Japanese import in the American market. The turbocharged 280ZX with a 3-speed automatic delivered 0-60 mph times of 7.5 seconds, and a very respectable quarter mile time of 16.5 seconds and reached a top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h). One criticism of the early 280ZX was a reduction in spring rates, giving a softer ride, and making the car rather difficult to drive hard through corners without transient oversteer, which was a feature of trailing-arm rear suspensions. The release of the turbocharged model in 1981 saw the introduction of a revised rear suspension, which Nissan continued to use in the 1982 and 1983 Turbo, as well as the non-turbo from mid-1982 onward. On Feb-09-11 at 06:25:24 PST, seller added the following information: I have provided the tag on the car which gives the information on production. I am going to do more research-maybe this is a late model 81 because it appears that this engine didn't come with a 5 speed here in the states in 1981? All I know is that I have one for sale--On Feb-10-11 at 12:08:56 PST, seller added the following information: The car is a late model 81 MANUFACTURED 8-91 and is like the 82's built for the U.S.- It has the BURG-WARNER T-5 TRANSMISSION- we put is up on the rack 15'WHEELS- THE REAR END HAS A NISSAN EMBLEM WITH 47 STAMPED- THE CAR HAS A LOWERING KIT WITH BILSTEIN SHOCKS AND A MAGNAFLOW MUFFLER
