Vehicle Detail
For auction is a 1975 Honda GL1000 Goldwing. This first year Wing is a running project I bought last year. It had been sitting and required the usual servicing to bring back to drivable condition. The frame serial number is 14172 and the engine is 14416. Those familiar with these production numbers know that this indicates matching engine to frame. The motorcycle currently has 27,200 miles and is straight and solid. There is rust in places such as the back side of the handlebars and on the frame in spots. The rear fender is very nice and has no cracks as is typical when mishandled. Comes with correct rear grab bar. Tail light chrome is fair with light surface rust. The front fender is straight but has some pitting on the right side. The seat is from a 76' model and is really nice including the pan. There are a couple of small areas that need attention. One is at the front seams where it tucks under and there is a very small hole on the left front side. Foam is good and cover soft and pliable. Also comes with OEM seat strap and buckles (not shown). Brakes are all in working condition and stop the bike well. Tires will need to be replaced. Wheels will need cleaning. The muffler section connectors were bad and have been repaired using automotive connectors and OEM Honda clamps at the headers. The exhaust system is pretty solid but does have surface rust. Instrumentation all works including speedometer, odometer, tachometer, warning lights and fuel gauge. The instrument dial faces are in rough shape but the lenses are crystal clear. All four turn signal assemblies are included but will require 75' style fittings for installation. These parts are available. Headlight assembly is very nice and includes a light from a 78' model which was made in Italy and takes the bayonet type halogen bulb. This light is very bright and projects well. Wiring is intact and in good shape including connectors. The battery was replaced last year. The carburetors have been rebuilt using quality kits and the fuel lines and filter have been replaced. The fuel tank was removed for servicing and it cleaned out very well. The valves have been adjusted to factory specifications and the spark plugs are new. The valve cover gaskets are new. The carbs were synchronized using vacuum gauges. This motorcycle is a little rough around the edges but starts easily and runs very well. It handles great and makes excellent power. The five speed transmission shifts easily and the clutch engages solidly. This motorcycle is a handful under spirited acceleration. The 75' models are considered to be the hot rod engine as the camshafts used were high performance in design. Later model engines were re-tuned to be more tame for highway use. The bike was repainted at some time and the paint is in fair condition. It is black except for the left side cover which is blue. This is a straight and solid old Honda and should not take too much more to finish. There is a reasonable reserve price. If sold, a deposit is required through pay pal and the balance when picked up. Buyer is responsible for pick up or other shipping arrangements. Motorcycle is sold as is and without warranty. Thank you. On Feb-07-11 at 03:24:06 PST, seller added the following information: I bought the motorcycle with an Ohio title but have not transferred it to my name. It shows no liens. If sold, I will prepare a bill of sale for the new owner. On Feb-09-11 at 06:54:04 PST, seller added the following information: There is an error on the title that requires correction. Due to the age of the motorcycle, It will be sold with a bill of sale only, which is sufficient in my location, for registration purposes. If sold, the title will be given "as is" to the new owner. The motorcycle is listed for uction in the US, Canada and Mexico only. Bids from anywhere else will be cancelled.
