1982 VW Westy Up for sale is my 1982 VW Westy. It seats four and sleeps four, but makes everyone smile! It has 203,000 miles on the body, but the engine was rebuilt just 2000 miles ago. It runs and starts up great. I have had this Westy for 5 years and have re-done the inside and updated it a bit. The engine was rebuilt in September of 2009, with a new clutch. The starter was also replaced in 2010 as well as the shifter linkage. In October of 2010 a new catalytic converter was installed and just passed Smog in Nevada. The exterior has no rust and the body is in excellent shape. There is no rust on the under carriage either. The previous owner changed the grill to a newer body style. So it has the look of a newer Westy from the front. I installed a new tent on top from Go Westy, and it is the nice synthethic three window tent. I tinted the windows to protect it from the sun and keep it nice and cool in the summer inside!! This was a great upgrade as you will see when you drive it away. The interior is in excellent condition as well. We tore out all the old upholstery and padding. We replaced the backseat , back area and the top bunks with thicker longer lasting foam. This makes it much more comfortable for sleeping. We also reupholstered the entire back in an updated Tommy Bahama’s material to give it that “I’m on vacation” feeling! We also re did all the curtains. It does have the original screens still. We bought the newer updated seats from a newer Westy and had them re done and upholstered as well. These have the nice arm rests and are much more comfortable for traveling. All the covers on the upper bunk and back bed cushion zip off and can be cleaned, with a nice heavy duty zipper that will last -unlike the originals. The floor is re done with “Pergo” flooring. All door and wall panels were re done in bead board and stained to match. All appliances work and start right up. The Front seats swivel and it has both tables(rare to find anymore). The dash has a dash mat on it to protect it but there are no cracks or damage to the dash. It still looks new. This Westy has been great to us and we have had many wonderful weekends in it, but it has come time to move on and sell it. It is 29 years old, so it is not perfect. I do believe it is one of the nicer Air cooled models out there for sale. I have taken great care in brining this Westy back to life and want to find someone who loves them as much as we do. The only bad I can find is that it will need a new windshield and the tires will need to be replaced. They have plenty of tread on them but are starting to dry rot. The Nevada Sun is brutal. This Westy comes as a used vehicle with no warranty.
