Vehicle Detail
Attention Lincoln collectors and enthusiasts, this is the car you have been searching for: a 1990 Lincoln Mark VII driven by a little old lady with only 72,282 actual miles! Please read the entire auction and ask all questions BEFORE you bid! Also please read the details on how to pay for this car BEFORE you bid and make sure you can meet the requirements. Thank You. I have posted over 100 additional pictures on www.flickr.com. Please visit the following links to the pictures and view them all BEFORE you bid. I want you to know exactly what you are getting, You can supersize them and many of them have captions. There are actually three different links to view. Thank You. http://www.flickr.com/photos/50911520@N04/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/50890595@N04/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/50970826@N08/ History: This is my grandmothers car and at the age of 95 she no longer drives. I would love to tell you she only drove her Lincoln to church on Sundays but that is an old bit and in actuality she got around. I was with her when she became the second owner in the early 90's and I actually told her not to buy the car because it was too expensive compared to other Mark's on the market. After looking at a lot of other Mark's she bought it anyway and I will never forget this, she told me "sometimes quality is worth paying for." In retrospect she was right as this car was, and still is simply stunning. I didn't realize her plan at the time but she didn't trade in her old car. She kept it as a second car to drive in the winter and other bad weather so the Lincoln could stay pristine, thats why this car is still so nice. My grandmother is a very sporty lady and she had no interest in the Bill Blass model, she wanted an LSC! It stands for Luxury Sport Coupe. They weren't kidding, this car in a wolf in sheeps clothing. On one hand it does have every luxury amenity and a smooth ride but at the heart of the beast is a 5.0 V8, the exact same engine as in a Ford Mustang. My grandma would say "I step on the gas and ZOOM! ...there is goes out of the garage!" Options: Power windows, power locks, power mirrors, power sunroof, power closing trunk, power seats, JBL sound, keypad on door, full leather interior, leather wrapped steering wheel, drivers airbag, ABS brakes, fog lights, compass, exterior temp gauge, 5.0 V8 engine, metallic paint, LSC sport package. Exterior Condition: The paint on this car is as smooth as glass and shines like a mirror. Naturally there are some minor stone chips from normal road use but overall the exterior is excellent. There are really no scratches to speak of and a few minor door dings but you have to stand at the right angle to even see them. There is absolutly no fade to the paint or stains, nothing. There are no dents. The chrome is all very shiny. There is also no visible rust on the car. All of the rubber weather stripping in in excellent condition. The plastic inserts on both bumpers have some minor knicks and wear but look good. The wheel wells are so clean you could eat off of them. All of the door jambs and trunk jambs are pristine clean. The tires have plenty of tread. Overall you would be very proud to show this car right now at a car show. It really has style and grabs the eye, I have driven it a little myself and people do notice such a fine automobile in this kind of condition. Interior Condition: My grandma does not smoke and the interior of this car is like new. She weighs less then 100lbs so she didn't wear on the leather, even the drivers seat is like new. No one ever sat in the back seat. The condition of the leather is so good it is mind blowing. The carpets are clean except the drivers footwell is a little dirty. I bought new floor mats for it. All of the headliner is clean and doesn't sag. There are no rips, tears or burns on the interior. All of the plastics are clean and crack and stain free. There is one visible flaw to the interior, there is a crack on the top of the dashboard, I point to it in one of the pictures. Otherwise the interior is like new with no weird odors. My grandma had all these plastic sheets in the bottom of the trunk. Therefore the trunk looks absolutly new, nothing ever touched it. The spare tire has never been on the ground and all of the tools are in their original case with the wheel lock. Under the hood has been detailed and is very clean as well. All of the rubber hoses are in great condition. Mechanically: I throughly went over this car and inspected it because in good conscious I can't sell anything that could have hidden problems. I replaced everything that was suspect and this car is totally up to date on the maintenance. Here is what I replaced: -battery -radiator -water pump -lower radiator hose -front brake pads (rears have about 90% pad left) -left front brake caliper -idle control motor -I had it aligned -my Grandma had the mufflers replaced a few years ago -the transmission was recently rebuilt at a cost of over $1600.00 All of the above has been replaced in the last 6 months and has very few miles on it, I have been driving the car on nice days but never in the winter. Naturally since I replaced parts on the cooling system the antifreeze has been flushed. My grandma had the air conditioning updated to R134a and the air conditioning blows ICE COLD. The heat is very hot and every single option works as it should with two exceptions. The power lock does not work on the drivers door. The button on the drivers door will unlock the passenger door as will the keypad on the outside of the door but just the lock itself doesn't go up and down when you push the button. It still operates manually when you pull the knob or use the key. The lock works as it should on the passenger door. Also the compass and outside temperature on the overhead console are not lighting up, this could be a burned out bulb or a loose wire, I am not sure. Other then that every other power feature of the car works. The drivers window makes a click noise as it goes down an inch in its travel but it works as it should. Recently the tranmission has been rebuilt. The mechanic at the shop told me they are very reliable and don't usually fail at such low mileage. Apparently what happened was a plastic bushing dried out and fell off of the TV cable and when this happens and you drive the car the transmission will burn up in a matter of miles. So now the bushing has been upgraded with a metal bushing so the problem won't occur again. This is a common problem with LSC's, don't buy one without the metal bushing! Overall this car is excellent mechanically. All the important stuff has been done to it. There are no fluid leaks. I would not hesitate to drive this car cross country. It does not need any repairs. Overall: My grandma will hate to see this car go and she told me to find it a good home. She wants someone to enjoy it and take as good of care of it as she did. Collectors and enthusiasts love their Lincoln Mark VII's because they were good cars to begin with and they are still good cars now. I myself only drive Ford products, I have had a lot of other cars but have found these to be the best. I don't want you to get me wrong, this car has been driven and does have some wear and tear for a 20 year old car but overall if you want to own this type of car I doubt you will find a better one. This isn't a car some teenager hotdogged around or someone put a hood scoop on, this is an automobile that was respected, cherished, and maintained with cost as no object by a little old lady that got her dream car. If you look in Hemmings Motor News and even Ebay you will see these cars are really going up in value and people are asking big bucks for low mileage examples because they are hard to find, get into one while they are still reasonable. Keep in mind loaded LSC's were over $30K back in 1990, that was a lot of money back then. The reserve is set very reasonable on this car, just look at what some people are paying for beat up junk, this is a mint condition classic. Special Notes: -PLEASE keep in mind by bidding on this auction you are entering into a contract to purchase an automobile. This is NOT the first right of refusal. -This car is sold as-is with no warranty. - I have two extra sets of keys as well as all of the manuals and the door code card. -I have described the car to the best of my ability. I did not own the car, my grandma did, you are welcome to come and inspect it and test drive it before you bid. -In the pictures on flickr.com I didn't have the date set on the camera, they are recent pictures. -A few notes on the vehicle history report. It says in 1993 the mileage was 211K. Obviously this is a error. Nobody can drive that much in 3 years, They entered the mileage wrong. I don't know what happened to the left door in 1993 but it still has it's original VIN tag on it so any damage had to be minor, the door was never replaced, it may have been the mirror. I do know what the accident was in 1997, I asked my dad. My grandma was driving in the Jewel parking lot and another lady backed out in front of her. The only thing that happened was the license plate holder came off the front so he stuck it back on. It is the original license plate holder and has never been replaced. Autocheck should think about having a minimum dollar amount for damage because in this case these are frivolous reports, and most likely were more damage to the other persons car. -For ease of sale I have transferred the title into my name, I made a copy of the original title in my grandmas name to show it was her car, we have the same last name. -Zero feedback bidders please contact me BEFORE you bid, I don't mind that you bid we are all new at something sometime in our lives but we will need to talk first. -No negative feedback bidders, I will cancel your bid. -TERMS OF PAYMENT: You must make a $200 deposit within 48 hours of winning the auction via PAYPAL. If you don't have PAYPAL don't bid. The balance can be paid one of two ways: CASH in person. This means you will be counting out greenbacks. I will also accept a bank to bank wire transfer. You will not get the car until it clears. I WILL NOT accept a cashiers check. You CAN NOT pay the whole amount via PAYPAL, only the deposit. You must pay the balance within 7 days of winning the auction. -If you want to have the car shipped I will happily assit your shipper in loading it, shipping is at your expense. Thank you and remember please ask any questions you might have.
