Vehicle Detail

Happy 45th Birthday to the 1966 Ford Galaxy 500 2-Door Fastback This is a true “Barn Find”. This car belonged to my father who recently passed away, I have no place to keep the car or interest in restoring it and so I am posting the car on EBay. Car has been in storage and not driven for several years. You will notice in the photo’s I did not try to wax and buff the exterior or do any detailing so that perspective buyers can see the car just exactly as I found it. This car will make a nice restoration project or daily driver and mid 60’s cars continue to grow in value making this a potentially excellent investment. I have priced this car to sell and I don’t have the interest or skills to restore it. Please make your offer or click the buy it now button. You can always give me a call if any questions. The facts – here is what we can find on the car based on the data plate: - Car built as Galaxy 500 2 door, fastback, with bench seat - Built January 12, 1966 in Wayne, MI – 31,011 car built at Wayne that model year - Car delivered to Indianapolis, IN sales district (papers in the car indicate an Indiana / Michigan ownership history) - Original Exterior Color – medium silver metallic - Original Interior – Black “Crinkle” vinyl with black “Venetian” pattern - Engine - 390 “Thunderbird V-8”, 2 bbl., 265 h.p., 401 lb.ft. torque - C6 – “Cruisomatic” transmission - 3.00:1 non-locking rear axle - Weight 3,481 pounds - Original list price $2,791 Current Situation – I have inspected the car top to bottom and can report the following: - Appears to be original 390 engine and C6 transmission - After charging the Die Hard battery, the car started right up, engine runs very strong, car drives and tracks well down the road, transmission shifts and brakes (non-power) work fine. - Other than aftermarket aluminum wheels, the car appears to be original and complete, all stainless is there, all glass is good (no cracks), bumpers and trim all in place (missing a few letters on the sides). - Car has an old repaint to “red” and paint is oxidized from several years of storage, bumpers have some rust. Stainless is complete and generally in good condition (strip at lower windshield is dented as are a few other pieces). - Body is straight, solid and all steel with good fit of doors, hood and trunk (gaps line up very well). There is a small amount of filler in the normal areas of bottom of rear fenders, but the body is very good for the age. - Interior is complete, newer carpet in good condition, newer seat cover (black and red) in good condition, original door panels and hardware – no rips or tears. Aftermarket steering wheel. Everything appears to work. Aftermarket tachometer and gauges. - There is rust in the trunk and frame in the normal areas for this model of Ford, especially on the driver’s side. Did not observe any sagging in the frame but reinforcement will likely be required which is very normal for mid 60’s Fords. Good news is it can be repaired before major structural problems come in. Bidding / Terms As with all these types of classic cars, the car is sold “as is” with no warranty expressed or implied. Feel free to inspect or send your pickiest inspector. Please call me at 269-720-4145 with questions for honest answers to help you evaluate the car. I reserve the right to end the auction early if a buyer contacts me with an acceptable price and car is for sale locally as well. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, although I will certainly help on this end with any arrangements. International shipping is not a problem. Payment through wire transfer prior to shipment or cash upon pick up only.
