1973 VOLKSWAGEN THING (CONVERTIBLE) 4 PASSENGER 4 CYLINDER 4 SPEED 4 NEWER TIRES HAS A GRILL GUARD ORIGINAL BUMPERS ORIGINAL SEATS-MAY NEED COVERED SOON, ONE HAS BEEN PATCHED CONVERTIBLE TOP FRAME-IT NEEDS A NEW CANVAS SIDE WINDOWS ARE PRETTY DECENT SHAPE WITH THEIR OWN STORAGE BAG VEHICLE HAS A JACK AND A SPARE TIRE AND WHEEL THE FLOORS ARE SOLID AND HAVE BEEN UNDERCOATED TOP AND BOTTOM ORIGINAL MIRRORS AND VISORS THE CAR DOES NOT HAVE A GAS HEATER THE FRONT AREA IN TRUNK IS SOLID ROCKER PANELS HAVE HAD SOME REPAIRS IN THE PAST BUT LOOK GOOD THE CAR HAS A FEW DINGS BUT OVERALL VERY USABLE AND DRIVABLE AS IT SITS FOR NEARLY 40 YEAR OLD CAR SOME OF THE PAINT ON THE CAR IS ORIGINAL- I DID TOUCH UP SOME SURFACE RUST AREAS HERE AND THERE, IT LOOKS OK BUT YOU WILL PROBABLY WANT TO PAINT THE CAR THIS SUMMER AS IT HAS NEVER HAD AN ALL OVER PAINT JOB THAT I CAN TELL. THE LIGHTS AND BLINKERS WORK THE CAR HAS A PUSH BUTTON ACTIVATED STARTER-I GUESS THE KEY SWITCH WENT BAD SOMETIME AGO-IT STARTS RIGHT UP THE LAST OWNER SAID THE ENGINE HAS BEEN RECENTLY REBUILT BUT I CANNOT PROVE THAT-HOWEVER IT DOES START , RUN AND SOUND VERY STRONG WITH NO SMOKE OR ABNORMAL NOISES THE BRAKES WORK GOOD, THE E BRAKE WILL NEED ADJUSTED OR SOME ATTENTION. No rust at all!! the "bullet" holes on engine lid are adhesive decals! the engine lid is as nice as the hood and the doors are. I will be happy to email pictures of the doors if you like. just send me your email address thru ask seller a question . thanks!On Jan-24-11 at 06:02:10 PST, seller added the following information: you can purchase a brand new custom made top from a reputable vw dealer in tops and canvas from california for 239.00 plus shipping you do not need to buy windows, these are very decent and very usable anyone with normal mechanical skills who could change oil or put in spark plugs could install the new top on the thing, it is not rocket science and it is not a hard job, it is very easy and not like other convertible tops,,,so "you can do it" yourself!!!!
