Vehicle Detail
If you're looking for a ground up fully restored nuts & screws, perfect in every detail "Best In Show" 58 Chevy, my car isn't it. However, if you're looking for a really nice cosmetically restored, rock solid 2 door 58 Chevy sedan with 283 small block,2bc and 2 speed powerglide transmission, mine is about as nice as they come in this price range. Looks & runs great. Turns heads with thumbs up everywhere she is seen! Nothing needs to be done to show, drive and enjoy. Questions I often get are: 1. Is it like the one Ron Howard drove in "American Graffiti" ? No-o--o Right year and Make. Wrong model. 2. Is the mileage after restoration? I don't know. The Chevy showed 1883 miles (goes to 99,999.9) when I bought it. 3. Bias or radial tires? 7.50x14 B.F. Goodrich 4 ply tubeless Silvertown poly 4. Power steering and brakes? No Air conditioned? No 5. Does everything work? Clock & radio do not. The heater control valve has been by-passed because it leaked. I only drive it on nice days so the heater is never used but can be by opening the by-pass valve. All lights, gauges, wipers work perfect. 6. Is it a numbers matching car? I don't know. The engine and transmission although obviously rebuilt, appear to be the original components. The engine stamps are A208 FI23D X58 intake manifold 3746826. 7. Do you know the history of the car? No I bought it for my 45th high school reunion because it is a beautiful car and reminded me of the car I would loved to have owned when I was in high school. I know nothing about classics other than if they look and drive good. I have been told at car shows by those who claim to be experts this Chevy is very original. California bumpers and frame seem to impress. Always brings home an award. It was sold to me as being a California car originally. When I had the original headliner replaced, the guy who did it (30 years experience) said everything was perfect under the old headliner and obviously this car has never sat out in the weather. I know not even a rain drop has hit her since I she was delivered to me by herself in an enclosed van from Missouri. 8. Why are you asking so much when 58 Chevys sell at auction for much less? I have no idea what 58 Chevys sell for at auction and to be honest, don't care but if that is the case, probably a good idea to trot on down to the nearest sale and pick yourself up a couple. I just know is I have more invested than I am asking and just trying to recoup some of my money. * As info, I'll work a lot closer with an interested private party that wants this Chevy for their own collection, has the expertise (which I do not) to maintain and preserve this classic for future generations as opposed to seeing her go to a dealer! Please contact me if you have other questions or would like additional pictures. However, you really need to see the car in person if at all possible!
