Vehicle Detail

I am a Corvair Enthusiast and promise to describe this automobile honestly. HISTORY: This is a low mileage car restored in the 80's. All work was done by reputable Corvair persons. It had taken numerous awards and has been owned by Inland Empire Corvair Club members since. INTERESTED BIDDERS: For the bidder who hasn't had a Corvair for years or knows very little about the car but really wants one, this car may best suit you. I suggest looking at this car closely, and possibly joining a local Corvair Club Chapter of CORSA in your area for guidance and knowledge. This is a car without a long list of things to fix before enjoying. For the Corvair enthusiast....Assuming we have had and seen many...This is a car you will appreciate the minute you start it up and take off in it! BODY: Being in dry climate of Southern California the car shows no rust issues. The body is straight and never been hit. The trunk bottom and floorboards are solid. Bottoms of doors and under lids are solid. All tinted glass is very nice. Bumpers, front emblem and headlight bezels( were NOS) are beautiful. Lower rocker trim is very good and wheel well trim is dinged. When the car was painted, it's obvious the jambs were not preped nor sprayed like I would have done them. A previous owner applied clear to the left rear 1/4 and screwed up the exhisting paint. Trunk is ORIGINAL w/ a reproduction mat approx. 20 years old.. Looks new. The seams up top in the trunk across...are usually rusty. There is no sign of this problem on this car. Brake fluid has eaten the original spatter paint (in the master cyl. area) but no rust through. INTERIOR: door panels are nice repros installed during old restoration. Still look great. Rear panels are ok but show warpege. This week the car was upholstered and has a very nice fitting carpet set. Seats have comfortable cloth inserts. All new foam replaced the old for the seats. The new seats set firm and do NOT lean off to the side like some tattered seats do. All chrome is very nice but window cranks are pitted more than I like. Only the dash pad is cracked, sun damaged and ugly. It has a dash cover to hide this for now. MECHANICALS & SUSPENSION: This is what makes this Corvair worth every penny! This car was never used as a daily driver. The man who restored it, had every bit of the suspension rebuilt. All bushings, ball joints, steering box, front and REAR bearings etc..... It's been sitting for years and doesn't look fresh & pretty but still drives like the day the work was completed. The 110 HP engine runs like a top and is nicely balanced. It is not an oil slinger. In all the years gone by, there are approx. 10k miles on rebuilt engine, 3:27 diff and 4 speed trans. Engine has been tuned - all fluids changed including brake fluid. Blower bearing, battery, electronic ignition, plugs....wires.... and new fuel pump with correct diaphram ( for modern fuel ) installed for dependability. Wipers, heater, gas gauge, horn .. all work. Tires were installed about two years ago.. Hankook 185/80R13 CD player and a removable shelf with speakers in rear installed. ( considering not everyone may like the modern radio ) OVER ALL: IECC members who have driven this car have sescribed it as a "SWEET DRIVING CORVAIR" or " A MINI BUICK " I see it as looks great, solid, comfortable, quiet ( for a Vair ), nice tracking for around town driver or freeway cruiser. This car still presents itself well. Runs and drives excellent. It should be enjoyed and driven. I trust this vehicle to travel long distance.
