Vehicle Detail
1940 FORD DELUXE…..NO RUST ISSUES……FLATHEAD V-8 SUICIDE DOORS……DRIVE ANYWHERE.....NICE Car in a nutshell: I have for sale a very nice 1940 Ford Deluxe with suicide doors. This may be the best body you will find “there are no rust issues that I can find, it looks good top and bottom”. The flat head V8 engine truly runs like a sowing machine, the transmission shifts good, the car drives like a dream, the wide white side wall tires look just right and the chrome sparkles. UP FRONT************** This is not an auction, its a listing at a fixed price, my buy now price is the lowest I will take for the car and I will be asking more at the big spring car shows, this is a very nice running and driving car, but my pictures make it look like a perfect roll out of the trailer show car and its just a very nice car, PLEASE READ THE DETAILS IN MY DISCRIPTION AND I WILL TELL YOU WHAT YOU CAN'T SEE. VIN 185497685 MILEAGE: 37065 undocumented, the speedometer is working, it could be the real miles, but I beat its another 100000. : HISTORY: I bought the car from a older local man. He was driving it last year and it quit on him, he stated fixing it and had a heart attach. He never got to get it running again. I bought it not running, it turned out to be a bad coil and needed fine tuning so I did a complete tune-up. TITLE: Clear Tennessee title in hand. IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS? None that I can find. IS THERE ANY ACCIDENT DAMAGE? None that I can find. WHY AM I SELLING THIS CAR? I’m a classic car restorer, but when I find a car I like I buy it and try to make a few bucks. PAINT: No dents, no dings, no runs, no cracks and the car is straight to look down the sides. It does have several chips that have been touched up. It has a very good shine! The color is a little different than the original, look at the original paint on the firewall behind the engine. The color is sort of a green/blue, but not a real turqoise. RUNNING BOARDS: The rubber on top looks new and the underside is not rusted out. CHROME: Very nice chrome, the bumpers look new and the side stainless is not dented up. INTEROR: Good interior, but its not original materials. UNSERSIDE: No rust problems, the frame is rock solid as well as the sheet metal. Its not painted pretty for show, but its solid. GLASS: The windows roll up and down good, the drivers vent window has several bubbles on the edge, the windshield has bubbles along the lower edge and one stone chip. The other windows look fine to me, these are flat glass and can be cut and replaced at any local glass shop, they will now use a better safty glass. ENGINE: The flathead V8 engine runs like it should ‘I love to hear a flat head engine run when its right. It was rebuilt by a local classic car restorer and has less than a 1000 miles on it. EXHAUST SYSTEM: Decent condition. FUEL SYSTEM: The fuel tank is a custom fit plastic made for this car, the system has a helper electric pump, I rebuilt the carburetor and the gas gauge works! TRANSMISSION: 3 speed manual transmission shifts great. REAR-END: No whines or growls. BRAKES: They stop good for what they are. STEERING: Car drives great. WHEELS AND TIRES: The tires look like new, they are original looking wide white side walls. The rims are original and the hubcaps and beauty ring good. LIGHTS: Head lights and tail lights work, fog lights work, the bulbs are shot in the spot lights. GUAGES: They work, even the speedometer and gas gauge. HORNS WORK! WIPERS WORK but the left has a striped gear in the mechanism that the wiper arm goes onto, it works going in and not coming out. HEATER is in place, but the blower is not hooked up. HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE? Good. TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just too hard! The rest of the information is boring unless you are really interested in buying the car, its just buying details like shipping, paperwork, who I am, where the car is located and how to pay and contact information. CONTACT INFO: my cell is 423-506-8987, I do not answer when driving, while meeting with people, after about 8:00 PM Eastern Time or on Sunday morning or Sunday nights. Please leave a voice mail and I’ll get back. I do check my emails several times a day. cell 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com THE GAME: I don’t play the game like most sellers! I tell you who I am, how to contact me, where the vehicle is located, lots of details and welcome you to come and look at the vehicle. I don’t put my vehicles up for auction because it a big joke, most sellers just have their buddy’s bid the auction up to what they want. Read the who your buying from section, I’m 64 years old, I have been a auto mechanics instructor, was an instructor in the US Army aviation school for Chinook helicopters and sold a good business to retire and play with classic cars. PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a Tennessee licensed/bonded car dealer and have sold cars all over the US and exported many. THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”. I RESERVE TH RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET. WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my home in Athens, Tennessee. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles south of Knoxville. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville. I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303. The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has no commercial flights. WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of Athens, Tennessee “Athens is called the friendly city”. We are located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee. I am 64 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 38. I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars. For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s, I did spend a year in Vietnam. I’m Southern Baptist faith and proud to be an American. I’ve been married to the same good woman for almost 41 years. LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE! TRANSPORT: EBAY MOTORS gives 3 instant transport quotes if you click on the link on my listing. US TRANSPORT: “No problem”, I can recommend a very large company, McNutt Auto Transport Service 800-755-2324. “open carrier only” US OR EXPORT “the best”: Classic Car Transport, LLC: This is a very good company that will handle any type of transport in the US or overseas with the white glove treatment. Call Steve at 913-749-0948 Email stevens@classiccartransport.com MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303. I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75)and 35 miles south of interstate 40, so transport is usually very fast. PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car. Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face. Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had a fake bank certified check. Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a member of the US Federal Reserve, this is called wire transfer. Option 4: Pay Pal is good, but it cost a lot. It cost me around 3%, I will take it, but you will have to add 3% to the price. WILL I HOLD THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET HERE TO LOOK OR HAVE IT INSPECTED? Not without a deposit! I have held too many cars that people promise me they are going to buy and they never show up, their wife won’t let them buy it, they can’t get a loan or they just back out. Before you drive or fly a long distance you need to make sure the car is not sold. “The way I look at it is until you pay a deposit your just looking and dreaming”. ***ALL INSPECTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO BE DONE BEFORE THE END OF THE LISTING**** INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 64 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors are unpredictable, you might get a good one, but most of them do not impress me at all, most really don’t know what to look at, they make a good car sound bad on the report. They have to be very critical to cover their back sides and all their concerned about is getting paid. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first! TRADES: Please no trades! PLEASE!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!! PLEASE!!!!! Come look at this vehicle. Please don’t hit the Buy Now button unless your ready to really buy it! Do your research, call me with questions, read my feed backs, I am ebay verified; this means they say I’m a real person in a real place. I WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION; YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF NERVE AND PLEASE DON’T BE A CRY BABY. Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info. Thank You, Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com IS THERE A WARRANTY? No!
