Vehicle Detail
Here is a really great classic truck, a 1968 GMC 2500. This is not a worn-out, beat up work truck that was patched up and called "restored", it is a survivor. This truck is nicely optioned for its age, with factory air conditioning, the "Buddy Bucket" seats, chrome trim, power steering, power brakes, automatic transmission, etc. It has vintage styling, reliable V8 power, new tires, and a nice interior - why buy a newer truck and lose money the minute you drive it off the lot, when you could own this one and watch the value go up? The body on this truck is unbelievable... never rusted, never wrecked, and with absolutely beautiful paint. That's right, this truck has no rust, and never has (this means no questionable rust repair work)! The floors, cab corners, inner and outer rocker panels, cab mounts, etc are all 100% solid original GM metal. Even the area under the battery is rust-free (nearly unheard of in these trucks). The paint is in excellent condition - smooth and shiny (no orange peel, no oxidation, reflects images like a mirror), no real flaws to speak of except for some wear on the top of the bedrails (I think it previously had bedrail caps on it). All trim pieces including the grill and bumpers are in great shape - there are 2 small dings on the front left wheelwell trim. All glass is excellent with the exception of a 3" crack in the windshield (down by the driver side wiper) that has been repaired and has not spread. The doors, hood, windows, etc all open and close easily. The bed floor is very straight and has a very nice professional spray-in bedliner. Overall this is a great-looking truck that turns heads whenever I drive it. The interior of the vehicle is in amazing condition as well. That is the original Buddy Bucket seat, recovered in a nice cloth with vinyl sides. I have seen similar seats sell for $1000 on their own. Pretty much everything is in great shape... dash pad, door panels, sunvisors, etc are all in very nice condition. The only real flaws to report are a cigarette burn on the rear of the driver side seat surface and a tear in the carpet near the accelerator pedal. There is a carpet cover over the dash pad just to protect from the Colorado sun - the pad is not cracked or damaged in any way. The original glovebox liner is in great shape. The dash has NOT been cut for a larger radio, and houses an aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette radio (not working as there are no speakers). The heater controls work properly with no broken levers (very common problem on these trucks), and the blower motor works on all speeds. The wooden steering wheel is a nice addition, properly installed (horn works and turn signals cancel), and I'll include the original as well. Power comes from a nicely rebuilt 350 cubic inch V8 engine. It has a 600cfm Edelbrock carburetor with electric choke, an aluminum intake manifold, and HEI ignition has been added for reliability. It starts easily and runs well. It has great oil pressure, does not smoke, and has a slight tick from the roller rockers and lifters. The rebuilt TH400 3-speed automatic transmission handles the power with ease, and shifts perfectly. The driveshaft was recently rebuilt and balanced, with new u-joints and a new carrier bearing. The Dana rear axle has 4.10 gears. The truck does have a slight transmission leak from the pan, and will leave a spot when parked. Dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers keeps the noise to a pleasant level while providing a powerful tone. The air conditioning compressor and condenser have been removed, and will be included with the truck. The truck has new 16" radial tires, and drives straight down the road with no wandering or pulling. It has a front sway bar (many of these trucks don't) that allows for much more pleasant cornering. The truck has a 4 core radiator, external transmission cooler, and dual auxiliary fuel tanks. This is really a nice truck to drive... it simply does not drive like an "old truck"! The steering and suspension are very tight and responsive, not all worn out. There are no squeaks or rattles, and the cab is quiet and pleasant even at highway speeds. The truck starts easily even when cold, runs great, and has plenty of power. The power steering and power brakes make the truck very easy for anyone to drive. This classic is very reliable and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere at a moment's notice! Overall this is a great truck, it's hard to find trucks that haven't had poor repair work done to them and aren't completely rusted out. This one has survived the years very well, and I'm sure its next owner will thoroughly enjoy it. I have a clean Colorado title for the truck, and will also include spare keys, the original steering wheel and horn button, the a/c compressor and condenser, a ton of receipts, documentation, etc (including the original build sheet and owner's manual). If you have any questions, please ask them prior to placing your bid. If you are local, or know someone who is, please consider coming to see the truck in person.
