Vehicle Detail
Honda CB750 K1 VIN# CB750-1107XXX ENG# CB750E-1107787 Build Date - 8/71 First titled - 1972 This is an unrestored original with clean title that I bought a year ago from an old guy in northern lower Michigan. It had been sitting in his barn, covered up for over 20 years. I am the 3rd owner and the 2nd rider. The old guy bought it but never transfered the title, registered, or rode it. I cleaned it up, rebuilt the carbs, rebuilt the master cylinder, rebuilt the caliper, put new vintage style dunlop k70 tires on it, new points and condensers, then rode it close to 200 miles. The compression was still a little low, so I pulled the motor out and took it to an excellent old school motorcycle mechanic. He wrenched at a dealership during the 70's and 80's. He also built and raced side car motorcycles, sponsored by GM Goodwrench. The motor was then pulled down completely an inspected. Everything is great condition - bearings, journals, pistons, transmission... everything. The stock size pistons were re-ringed and cylinders honed, case cleaned, head cleaned, valves lapped, new valve seals, new gaskets and o-rings. I polished all the aluminum covers, shined up all the hardware, and put the motor back in the bike. I fired it up a few times for a few minutes, then took it easy down the road about a half mile... very nice! BUT,... IT STILL NEEDS TO BE PROPERLY BROKEN IN. The weather here won't cooperate, the roads are not dry enough for me to take it out and put miles on it. Everything works on this bike, it's fun to ride, it looks good and I'm always getting compliments. The flaws of the bike are shown in the pictures. Some rusting on the front fender, some cracks in one of the exhaust pipes, no baffles, gauges are faded, the paint is faded on the tank and headlight showing the base coat... but i guess the old timers just call that patina.
