This is a 1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. It was the pace car model for the Daytona 500 that year. There were only 2000 of this model produced. There are probably less than half of that number remaining. This car is in very good shape. I have owned it since 1999. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR: The paint is in good shape. I had it touched up this summer. The original 1981 pace car decal were black only. I replaced them with 1980 pace car decals which are shades of gray with red. Every panel has black and red pin striping. The new pin striping and decals match the interior much better than the original. The interior is in great shape. The interior is black with red carpet. I replaced the carpet this summer. The seats for the pace car are special edition made by RECARO. They were red and black and in good shape. TRANSMISSION: I have had no problems with the transmission. ENGINE/EXHAUST: It has a 301 turbo-charged engine. It runs great. It could easily be a daily driver. The catalytic converter and emissions are gone. It has 2.5 inch pipe all the way back with FLOWMASTER 50 series mufflers. It sounds great. AIR CONDITIONER: The a/c belt is not installed. However, the a/c worked fine when I removed the belt back in the late 1990s. I can take more pictures for any serious inquires.
