Up for auction is an adorable 2003 gold Mini Cooper with a black power sun roof and manual transmission. It has 120,027 miles on it. The exterior looks really good. There are just some minor scratches. The black pleather interior is also in good shape. The gold exterior was a $400 extra and this car was the first gold Mini in the New York Metro area. It may have been the first in the Northeast. It was so unusual, that the makers of the movie, "The Italian Job" featuring stunt Minis, invited me to the film's NY premier, just so I could park my car in front of the theater, so it would be on display. The paint color has since been discontinued. The car has been taken to inspection, but it appears to have what mechanics call a "floating head." They think the 4th cylinder has a carbon build up in its head. The head would have to be removed in order to clean the carbon out and that's an expensive job, unless you know how to fix Minis yourself. Since the cylinder is skipping, the check engine light blinks. Sometimes it just stays on. So does the ABS light. Since of the "check engine" light is on, the car cannot pass inspection. Sometimes, the trunk light also goes on. The hatchback trunk locks and unlocks, but a small piece plastic latch recently broke off and that's why the trunk light sometimes goes on.The Mini does drive. It runs better at high speeds than on the lower gears. The car is located in th Catskill Mountain hamlet of Arkville, N.Y.
