Vehicle Detail
First, I must point out that I am in no way associated with Toyota and this is not an ad for the Matrix, though it may seem like it once you read this. I am a regular individual who discovered a great car. The Toyota Matrix is the greatest car ever. Well, in the past 40 years anyway. Tons of cargo room (With the rear seats down, you can lay down in it), Tons of leg room and headroom (my 6'5" friend fits in with room to spare), incredible fuel mileage (42 on the highway if you drive reasonably), great looks, simple to drive, awesome handling, decent acceleration and a low sticker price. Those were all the reasons I wanted a Matrix and nothing else. I looked at every other car and nothing even came close. The hideous and plastic-y no-frills Ford Probe was the same price but without the roominess or looks or reliability or sound system or moon roof. A comparably equipped Honda Civic was $8000 more without the cargo area, the looks, the handling or the moon roof. My point is, nothing compared to the Matrix. Do an online search and look at everything the Matrix offers. That way, I can save my fingers for my long description. Thanks! The car you see in the pics is exactly what I pictured in my head a over a year before I bought it. This car was the first, and so far, only car I have bought new from a dealership. No other hands have been on it. I was fortunate enough to have found the right car sitting at my local dealership with 4 miles on it! I had been looking at Matrix's for more than a year at that point but just to dream. One day in October of 2004 I was walking around a dealership 2 miles from my house and I noticed that this car had everything I wanted and nothing I didn't. It was even silver, which I was set on. 2-wheel drive, 4-speed automatic (overdrive), moonroof and upgraded sound system. A sales lady spotted me looking over the car. She came outside and asked "can I help you with anything?" and I replied "Yes, I'm going to buy this car today." The rest was history. Every aspect of this car (mechanical, electrical, whatever) is in absolutely perfect working order. It has never required any repairs of any kind whatsoever and it's not even close to needing any. With 25,400 miles, it hasn't even had time to get dirty. This car is in impeccable condition. More on that later. First, the extent of the modifications are: Custom lower front aero corners, 18 X 8" exact matching silver 7 spoke wheels with 2" polished lip, 2" lowering kit. That's it. I wanted an additional personal touch. Something that would make this car different from every other silver Matrix. So I had the rear area of the rear hatch around the license plate painted very tastefully in the Dupont prismatic color-changing paint. It changes from green to red to purple and it is over silver so it is subtle. None of the other mods are permanent. Everything can be put back to factory if so desired. I have the original springs to put the car back to stock ride height. I have the original wheels with the tires on them but I'm not sure if they can be transported with the car. They fit in the car, I just don't think the trucking companies allow cargo in the cars they haul. So the price of this car does not include the original wheels. If you pick the car up in person, the original wheels with tires are $200 extra (or trade me something(?). I collect old Hotwheels (hint hint). Got any? The engine, exhaust, interior and everything else on this car are all 100% factory original with no modifications and everything is in perfect working order and in perfect cosmetic condition. Clean, clean, clean. It's healthiest for the car to leave all mechanical items stock. Change anything and it instantly becomes de-tuned. Also, it would void the warranty, which, if I'm not mistaken, this one has 10 months left on it...? I'll have to check on that. I have kept this car meticulously maintained. The oil has been changed every 3000 miles since the car was new. All fluids have been checked regularly. If you have been looking for a flawless Matrix with low miles (25,400) that has been meticulously maintained and never abused, this could be your car. It is extremely clean, always garage-kept and is a dry-weather car only. This car has been my baby. My dream car. I have treated it right. This is not a kids car. I am 46 and had good taste in mind when adding the mods. As I said earlier. It turned out exactly as I pictured it before the car even existed. Everyone who knows me, knows the rules I set for this car. No food, no beverages and no smoking inside the car. Watch your feet so as not to touch your shoes anywhere but on the floor mat. Be careful not to kick the doorjamb, the door panels, the console, the dash. Check your pockets for objects that may damage the upholstery, all that stuff. The result of my rules shows in the pictures. The interior is flawless. It is dark grey. The pics show it much lighter than it actually is and although the flash made the interior look 2 different colors, it is not. It's all dark grey and darker grey. The front seats have had covers on them since the first week I owned the car. I removed them today (Jan 1, 2011) to take pictures of the seats. There is zero wear to the seats and not a single speck or stain or dirt or anything on any of them. They are 100% flawless. The interior of the car smells brand new. Zero wear to the carpet. Even the original floor mats, which have always been in the car, show no wear except a tiny bit where my heel goes. The carpet underneath is perfect. The rear seat has only been sat in 3 times in the cars history. I can probably count on 5 hands the amount of times I even had a passenger in the car at all. I always have the rear seats folded down so the sun has never been on them to fade or damaged them. All interior panels are perfect. The headliner is perfect. The cargo area is 99.9% perfect. I found 2 tiny nicks back there *gasp* (shakes fist at culprit). I took a pic to show the rear storage compartments which are on both sides. The cover isn't missing, I just removed it for the picture. The body of the car is pristine. It has never had the slightest ding or scratch. I refuse to park it in parking lots. If I do, I take up 2 spaces and I NEVER park this car in shopping centers. The paint is nearly flawless. The only flaws are a few very tiny nicks in the front bumper area where bugs have hit it. Not VW bugs, the insect bug. No car with a vinyl front bumper with 25K miles is without these bug "marks". Mind you, you have to get up very close to see these. You could probably wax this car 15 times before you even notice one. There are no "chips" per se, just a few tiny "pits" you might call them, from when the bug makes contact. Anyway, aside from these micro-flaws, the entire paint job on this car is 100% original and unblemished. I have kept the car waxed since new and it is very glossy. I have included pictures of the door jambs so you can see how clean this car is. Every nut and bolt, every latch, every rubber door bumper, every grommet, everything in the jambs is in perfect condition and cleaner than when the car rolled off the assembly line (in America, BTW). I have also included pictures of, yes, the wheelwells under the car! Check out the center row of pics in this auction. It's the second pic from the bottom. Yes, that's under the car. Nothing has been repainted. That's all factory. All 4 wheelwells are spotless. Always have been. No road grime at all. Not even dust. I know, crazy, right? I detail underneath when I clean the car. Who does that? Like I said, this car is my baby. To amaze people, I reach up over the tires and rub my hand around inside the fenderwell and then show people my perfectly clean hand. They're like "You have to be kidding me". If you'd like, I'll even send you a new picture with a current magazine so you would know the pics weren't taken when the car was new. The underside of the fenderwell shots were taken on Dec 30, 2010. The interior shots were taken on Dec. 31 2010 and Jan 1, 2011. The entire underside of the car barely has any surface dirt. You could literally take a rag, wipe once and it would be as clean as the day the car was built. In some areas, the rag wouldn't even get dirty. The windows are all 100% chip-free except for one tiny nick in the windshield, which happened when the car was a month old. It doesn't even have wiper marks because there has never been a reason to use the wipers, except when I accidentally flipped the wiper lever the other day. Zero other flaws in the windows. In fact, I have only used clean cotton rags and window cleaner on them so there isn't even a rub mark or any haze from a paper towel. They are crystal-clear with no scuffs. So as you can see, this car is like buying a brand new one off the lot except I broke it in for you. If I'm forgetting anything or if you have any questions or would like larger pictures emailed to you, let me know and give me your email address. I'll try to respond promptly.
