427 ENGINE...4 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION...HURST SHIFTER NEW BLACK PAINT THAT IS ARROW STRAIGHT.........NEW INTERIOR ALL NEW CHROME….........CRYSTAL CLEAR GLASS,,....,POSI REAR-END DISC BRAKES….....…..RUNS LIKE A ROCKET……..........NO RUST ISSUES UP FRONT: The real Chevrolet built 427 engine did not come out in this car! This car looks like a real SS (Super Sport car, but did not come from the factory as one). This car is rock solid, the paint shines like a black diamond and its laser straight. Things work on this car, it is mechanically sound and its not a rust bucket! CAR IN A NUT-SHELL: We have for sale a restored 1966 Chevelle. The engine is a Chevrolet built 427 that can be documented with casting numbers “I will list the numbers in my description”. Past owner sold us the car saying the engine was a 1969 COPO that had been rebuilt, I tried to document the COPO on some web sites and it could be by the numbers, please take the casting numbers and decide for your self. “I’m just saying it’s a real 427 engine by my research, BUT IS JUST A REAL 427 and 99.9% ITS NOT A copo”. I’m sure you real hard core Chevy guys will give me your options, they are welcome. The transmission is a 4 speed manual that shifts good, the rear-end a positive traction with 3.73 gears, disc brakes in the front, not power steering, all new black interior parts, we pulled the dash to paint it and make sure everything worked, new bumpers, new emblems, nice glass with a new windshield, new SS hood and anything else that needed it. VIN: 136176A 116278 MILAGE: 65492 undocumented and not sure, but could be. HSITORY: Sold in Johnson City, Tennessee to Dana Lamb on 1-12-66. By the title this is a one owner car. My friend Danny bought the car and did the restoration. He owns the car and I’m helping him sell it. TITLE: The original yellow Tennessee title in hand, it is dated 1-12-66. It is clear and the VIN matches the car. IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS? I consider this a very solid car! I inspected it before it was painted and there was no rust issues on the exterior body. The truck had some very small pin holes, I recommended cleaning and fixing old school way with some lead metled in them, but my friend Danny did not want any rust repair. He had the body man put a new trunk floor and drop downs on the car, he did a great job “I guess it the best way to fix it”. The floor look to be original as well as the other panels. The underside is not painted and polished for show, IS THERE ANY ACCIDENT DAMAGE? I can find none. No kinks or bends in the frame, no wrinkles in the underside sheet metal. PAINT: The PPG paint is about 2 months old and has no dents, no dings, no runs, no rust and it shines like a black diamond. It is laser straight to look down the sides and everything was disassembled before painting. The car was color sanded and buffed to a show car shine. The painter did the car at home on the side, he keep the car about 3 months. The door jambs, under hood and trunk area were also painted. CHROME: New bumpers, emblems, mirrors, bezels and the stainless is great. I saw a couple of faint marks on the stainless that could be polished out. INTEROR: New black bucket seat covers, new carpet, new dash pad, new kick panels and new door panels and new headliner. The dash was removed and everything cleaned and painted and some of the bright work replaced. GLASS: New windshield, all the other glass is good, the windows roll up and down good. SOUND SYSTEM: 8 track that makes noise, but does not come on. ENGINE: Here is the icing on the cake! The engine is a rebuilt 427 not original to this car. The block casting numbers are 3963512 and the head numbers are 3919840 with HIPO cast into the heads. The car was bought with the past owner telling us this was a COPO engine. I looked at some web sites and determined that it was for sure a 427 engine and could be a COPO, but not likely, please run the numbers and make your own decision. The intake is a after market aluminum with a new Holley Demon carburetor. The engine has a nice hitting cam and roller rockers, it runs like a rocket. EXHAUST SYSTEM: Duals that have the loud and deep Muscle Car sound. COOLING SYSTEM: New large aluminum radiator. TRANSMISSION: A very nice shifting 4 speed manual, clutch and pressure plate feel good. BRAKES: Brakes are good with disc on the front. STEERING: The car drives very good. WHEELS AND TIRES: Nice looking Rallies with new radial tires. LIGHTS: They work, even the dome light. WIPERS: Wipers work and Danny put a new dash switch in, but something is wrong in the motor and it will not cut off, he mounted a toggle switch under the dash to make them cut off, its probably something wrong with the mechanism that stops the arms in the park position. But they do work! GUAGES: Oil, temp are mounted under the dash in a pod and the gas gauge works. CLOCK WORKS! SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING! The shifter linkage is blocking the direct hook up of the cable “it need a 90 degree adapter”. Danny did put a drill on it and the speedometer turns. I think Summit racing sells the 90, we will order one if the car doesn’t sell within the need week. I think the shifter is not the original and that’s the clearance problem. HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE? Good! HOW ARE THE PANEL FIT AND THE BODY LINES? Great for a Chevelle, much better than most. THE REST OF THE WRITEUP IS BORING UNLESS YOU HAVE REAL INTEREST IN BUYING THE CAR! PAPERWORK: I know what to do! I am a Tennessee licensed car dealer and have sold cars all over the US and exported many. The license and bonding are expensive for a small father/son operation, but we need it to keep things legal and make them happen without problems. I’, m actually a mechanic/car restorer, I just have the license to make things work smooth. THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”. I RESERVE TH RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET. CONTACT INFO: my cell is 423-506-8987, I do not answer when driving, while meeting with people, after about 8:00 PM eastern time or on Sunday morning or Sunday nights. Please leave a voice mail and I’ll get back. I do check my emails several times a day. cell 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my home in Athens, Tennessee. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles below Knoxville. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville. I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303. The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has no commercial flights. I WILL ONLY PICK YOU UP AT THE AIR PORT UNLESS THE CAR IS PAID FOR IN FULL, I HAVE MADE TOO MANY WILD GOOSE CHASES! RENTAL CARS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE AIRPORT! OWNERSHIP OF THE CAR: My friend Danny Pryor owns the car and I’m just listing it for him. Danny is a retired equipment contractor that sold his business. He was bored and loves cars so he opened a small car lot, he keeps 10 0r 12 cars with about half classics. He does not like anything to do with computers so I list his cars for him. WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of Athens, Tennessee “Athens is called the friendly city”. I am 63 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 38. I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars. I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center here in Athens for many years. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s. LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE! US TRANSPORT: “No problem”, I can recommend a very large company, McNutt Auto Transport Service 800-755-2324. “open carrier only” US OR EXPORT by my favorite: Classic Car Transport, LLC: This is a very good company that will handle any type of transport in the US or overseas with the white glove treatment. Call Steve at 913-749-0948 Email stevens@classiccartransport.com MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303. I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75), so transport is usually very fast. PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car. Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face. Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had a fake one. Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a member of the US Federal Reserve, this is wire transfer. Option 4: Pay Pal is good, but it cost a lot. It cost me around 3%, so you will have to add 3% to the price. INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspection have to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 64 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. WARRANTY: Come inspect, judge and drive the car all you want to because I do not offer a warranty on classic cars. TRADES: Trades are hard! If you live close and are willing to drive your car to me and look I will consider, but I am only interested in classics “no cycles, boats or late model stuff! I can tell you in advance we probably will not trade. If you have to ask your wife, borrow money, sell your car first or want to trade, PLEASE don’t waste our time. I work hard and plain just don’t have the time to entertain you, that’s the reason for a long writeup. Thank You, Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com IS THERE A WARRANTY? No!
