The Toy Barn of Dublin Presents: Limited Production SLP Firehawk #86 of only 100 coupes built Though many “car people” know of the Pontiac Trans Am, GM’s “excitement division” muscle car, fewer know of the Formula. This muscle-bound Firebird derivative was built with the skin of a Firebird but the heart of the Trans Am itself. Weighing less and looking the part, the Formula was the no-nonsense tire-smoker built with one purpose: go fast. When Pontiac teamed up with the performance shop known as Street Legal Performance (SLP) in the early 90’s, the Firebird Formula received an all-around extra kick that produced more ponies, better handling, and enhanced curb appeal. Best of all, these limited production ‘birds could be ordered right through your local Pontiac dealer. The catch? Less than 1000 were built each year, resulting in a hard to get “supercar" at a premium price tag. The payoff? If you were fortunate enough to snag one, you captured one of the fastest and rarest of the F-bodies. The 1997 Firehawk was the final version of the LT1, and was the best that Pontiac had to offer, though only 100 coupes were built, with just over half of those being 6 speeds. Aggressive Bilstein suspension and 17” Firehawk wheels made the car stickier in the corners. The Ram Air induction, combined with the high-flowing SLP exhaust system, provided 30 extra horsepower over the standard V8 F body. Top it off with a Ram Air hood, Trans Am spoiler, chrome finished wheels, and Firehawk badges, and this car was the ultimate package of looks, handling, and acceleration. Why buy this Firehawk??? This is one of the lowest mile Firehawks you'll find, in the perfect color combo, UN-MODIFIED. You will not be disappointed!! WHY BUY ONE WITH THAT SOMEONE ELSE ABUSED??? This is as close to new as it gets. ONLY 17,000+ miles, 6 speed, T-TOPS, Black over Graphite, ONE OWNER, clean Carfax history report, AND BONE STOCK. This is the one to own, and will make a fantastic driver or collector. The car runs, drives, stops, and shifts like-new. If you're a collector, enthusiast, muscle car lover, or F-body fan, this car will not disappoint, and is ready to be shown OR driven. The condition of this car is as you would expect for a low mile, stock, one-owner Firehawk. The paint looks fantastic, with no damage and scratches, or anything that takes away from this 'bird's appearance. The car looks great up close or from afar. I've been around this car in both artficial and natural lighting, and considering the age and miles of this car, this is as close to "new" as you'll probably find. The only issue worth noting regards the bumpers; the underside of the front has a couple of scuffs that you notice if you lay under the front end and look at it, the rear bumper has some minor scuffing to the right of the license plate(can be seen in the pictures), neither of which take away from this Firehawk's appeal. The Firehawk tires on this bird are near-new, and the chrome wheels look fantastic, with only slight curbing on the right rear. On the inside, this non-smoker looks great as well. The cloth interior appears to have been upgraded to a full leather upholstry from Classic Soft Trim, so it has a more luxurious look to it. The bolster shows a little wear, but not much considering the interior's 13 years old. The carpet, dash, glass, console, etc, all are in excellent condition. The lid that has the Firehawk badge on it (covering the ashtray) doesn't sit properly and could need repair or replacement to make it perfect, though it still functions and looks acceptable. Factory Options: This Formula, as you know, has the SLP installed, factory ordered "Firehawk" Performance and Handling Package. This model was equipped with the Level II Bilstein Suspension, Chrome Firehawk wheels, Hurst Shifter, and Firehawk mats. Along with that package, this car also has full power equpment including driver's seat, Monsoon 10-speaker audio system w/ 7 band EQ CD player, and T Tops, A MUST HAVE. Rounding out the options on this Firehawk is the Trans Am up-level spoiler, ordered this way straight from the Factory. This car is fully equipped, and is a need-nothing car.
