Please note: I am selling my deposit and the associated rights to buy this car new from the dealer for $500 less than MSRP ($41,695 + tax, title, registration) rather than the car itself. The car is in transit to the dealership and will be ready for pick-up in the next week. The car is being sold by the dealer. I am selling the deposit. Detail on why I'm selling the deposit and payment terms is provided below.... Since the car is already on its way to the dealership, I am making the duration on this auction very short. Details on the car: It is Cyber Gray with premium cloth bucket seats and a Bose sound system. It has the rear camera and parking assist package. It also has a built-in navigation system. Like all Chevrolet Volts, it is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. The EPA estimates that this car gets the equivalent of 93 miles per gallon--way better than a Prius. The car also comes with a $7,500 federal tax credit. Here is the background: My company put a $500 deposit down for this vehicle and several others months ago. However, the company is not growing as quickly as planned, and we no longer need this vehicle. Since we have already paid the $500 deposit, you can buy the car from the dealer in our place for $500 less than MSRP. Structuring the transaction in this way allows you to get the $7,500 tax credit that comes with the car (whereas if we took title and then re-sold the car, you would not get the tax credit.) If you have excellent credit, you can finance or lease the car through the dealer. The dealer is based in Gaithersburg, MD. Payment Terms: I am starting the bidding at $500 since that is our cost for the deposit. If the deposit sells for more than $500 (i.e., more than face value), you can pay the balance by making a donation to the Gold Youth Leadership Foundation (www.goldyouthleadership.org) at the same time that you purchase the car from the dealer. Gold Youth Leadership Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. This non-profit literally changes the lives of hundreds of talented high school students every year. The donation to the Gold Youth Leadership Foundation will be in your name (not mine or my company's name) so that you can take the deduction for charitable giving and feel good about the donation. The $500 will need to be paid using PayPal. The balance of the purchase price for the deposit (i.e., the rest of the winning bid) can be paid with PayPal or check when you purchase the car. The Gold Youth Leadership Foundation is an organization that is near and dear to my heart. However, if you have another non-profit that benefits young people that you are passionate about, email me before placing your bid and I will let you know if I would be willing to allow you to substitute a different non-profit as the beneficiary of all or some of your bid if you should be the winning bidder.
