1970 GT 6 + I bought this vehicle 3 years ago on ebay. It has sat in my garage since then. I drove it around the block once the first week I had it, and went out to start it every couple of weeks. Unfortunately, about 6 months ago it atopped turning over. The battery is dead, but I also could not get it started by jump starting it. Not sure what the problem is, but it did run 6 months ago. FOLLOWING IS THE LISTING AS IT RAN WHEN I BOUGHT IT THREE YEARS AGO This is a fun classic British sports car. The body styling makes it one of the best-looking automobiles the UK ever produced. With its large diameter steering wheel, and its rack and pinion steering, it is a very agile and fun to drive car. I have put about 10,000 miles on it since its resurrection. The car had been sitting for 20+ years when I found it, and so far I have put $5,000 into the project. Because of the long time with no caring owner the title trail had been lost, and I was only able to get a salvage title to bring it back to life. On the NADA site this car is valued at about $4300 in running condition, this one runs regularly. The GT6+ needs and deserves a body-off-rebuilding. There is rust below the doors, and the rider side floor panel is rusted through. All of the panels and parts are available from various vendors. The one I have been using is Victoria British located in Kansas. There are various bumps and dents in the body, and some bondo repair that should be redone. The car is in need of various window rubbers, like doorscrapers, etc. I made a nice custom walnut veneer dash. Otherwise, the interior is in need of redoing, but all the gages and lights are currently working. I’ve overhauled all of the electrical. This model of car has a split rear bumper, which I have, but I didn’t get around to putting them on. One of them is twisted. This is a dual carb inline six cylinder. (In photos the engine was running, so the fan is a yellow blur.) The car runs clean and quiet, no bad exhaust smells in the cab. The engine has good compression in all cylinders (160 psi), and the car runs well when it warms up. The car passes emission testing every year in Denver, Colorado although it could use carburetor rebuilds now. There is a rattle in the driveline which shows up as a buzz in the gear shift lever at some RPMs in some gears. It starts right up, feels powerful and quick, and drives smooth. The transmission was recently rebuilt in England, and works well. The transmission case is new. I rebuilt both the clutch and brake master cylinders. Front and rear suspension works, but could use overhaul. I did replace the rubber doughnuts in the rear suspension, unique to this vehicle. Four new tires and rear shocks have helped the ride and my safety enormously. I only have three hubcaps for the car. A body repair/paint job would make this car a treasure that you could drive and have fun in. Make someone’s Christmas special. Buy this fun project for that someone special, or for yourself.
