Vehicle Detail
This a very nice 67 Plymouth that will be a very solid car once some engine issues are addressed. Much work has been done and much money invested into the car. The only reason I'm selling it is because I'm moving to a location where I won't be able to work on her and I will no longer be able to afford this project. It does pain me to see her go. Enough of the belly aching, let me get down to the details of the auction. She is a 1967 Plymouth Fury III. The vin code indicates that she was built in Newark, Delaware in 1967 with a 230 HP 318-2Brl and that she was a sedan in the medium price range. As far as I can tell, the engine is original, which is interesting considering that 1967 was the first year for the LA series small block 318s. This is the only information that can be had from this old 13 digit vin code. As far as the body goes, she is quite clean. I have yet to find any rust on her. She seems to have been painted before I bought her and the paint is pretty decent, but it does have some flaws. There is one small dent in the rear bumper and some small stuff on the driver side door that is hard to see unless your looking at it from an angle. The original color was blue, but it was a lighter sky blue from what I can tell from inside the doors and inside the engine bay. All the glass is intact and in great shape. The tires are all brand new Uniroyal tiger paws and tubes, which have less than 100 miles on them. The tires are mounted on 4 tru-spoke wheels. The interior is also pretty nice. The seats are freshly reupholstered and the car still has original rubber mopar floor mats in her. The carpet is decent for a 43 year old car, but there are some patches missing under the mat on the driver side (no rust visible). The dash has one crack near the center and the radio doesn't work(its an AM radio only anyways...), but the headliner and the rear deck are in nice shape. There is an original service plate in the glove box dated 1968 and 1969 and I have the original window sticker and manual to go along with it (and what I think to be the original spare tire in the trunk). The trunk is in excellent shape as well, no visible rust in the trunk pan and all the plastic plugs are still in place and the light still works(in fact, all the car's lights work). More work that I've done: I have replaced the transmission mount, as it was letting the trans flop around too loosely and you could feel it vibrating while in reverse. I have a new battery in her. I replaced the crumbled old washer reservoir under the hood with a mopar resto part and the windshield washer system still works. I replaced the old cracked side mirror with a new one. I put new shocks in her all the way around. I replaced the reverse light switch, so the reverse lights now come on when shifted to reverse. The brakes were done before I got her and they work well, but you'll have to know that they are manual brakes, but they aren't too bad. I also installed four halogen sealed beam headlights, much better visibility. The major problems! The power steering unit is leaking, but I have every part you will need to fix it. I have both tubes, a pump, a gasket rebuild, and I even have a kit for the main power steering unit. If you can do the work, I have all the parts for ya. Now, the main problem with this car is the engine. She doesn't maintain oil pressure for long and there is definite ticking coming from the valves. From what I've been told, the engine is due for a rebuild, and I can agree with that. You could have the engine rebuilt or you could even put a bigger engine in if you wanted. 383s came in the car as well from the factory and you can find rebuilt 383s for a price similar to a 318. It wouldn't be original, but you could make the jump from small block to big block MOPAR. If you were to take care of these two things, I'm confident that this car would pass a state inspection and become road worthy for another 150k miles. I have a lot of faith in the old girl. I'm also including 2 Flowmaster mufflers with her in case you want to replace the old muffler our convert her to a dual setup. I have an 80.00 car cover still in the box that will also be included, I'm also including a very extensive book on rebuilding small block mopar engines. Even though the engine is due for a rebuild, she starts right up and will make it a short distance or will go on to a car carrier by her own power, which will save you some money with shipping services. PLEASE ask questions if you have them, as there is a lot of information about this car that I can share. You must not have 0 feedback, or at least message me first. Too many infants with computer access these days.
