1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Sedan On offer is this 2 owner from new 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE sedan. The car was originally purchased by a local Southern Californian gentlman, who owned it for many years, until he sold it to his mechanic, who had maintained the car from new. It shows well in the original beige colour, having been repainted by the second owner some years ago. The brightwork is in good condition, as are the wheels, shod with good tires. Panel fit is excellent, and there is no evidence of accident repair or rust. The underbody is excellent and rust-free. The car is mechanically excellent. The car has covered an original 80,000 miles ad it drives like it. The engine is unbelievably strong and smooth and uses no oil. The transmission is smooth and the brakes, suspension and steering are excellent. The car features the options of air-conditioning, which blows cold, and electric windows, which all operate quickly and smoothly. The interior is generally good. The seat surfaces are good, with supple and almost tear-free material (small tear on the seam of the driver's seat bolster (see photo). The carpet is generally good, but the mats in driver's and front passenger section could do with being replaced. The wood veneer on the dash is showing delamination. There are two cracks in the dash top surface. This is a mechanically sound and rust-free example of a great Mercedes model exuding classic style, yet a relatively modern feeling drive.
