Vehicle Detail

1966 Standard Beetle This car is restoration ready. I started to restore it in '05. My wife's injury requiring her to have two artificial discs inserted in her spine and the resulting doctor bills have left this beauty sitting in my garage since early '06. IT HAS NEVER BEEN STORED OUTSIDE! I have held onto it for this long in the hope I would be able to get back to it, but no such luck. The body work on this car is 99% complete. I have the rear fenders also (can't remember if they are in any pics), they are in primer. The driver side floorpan has been replace with a half pan and welded in. Both floorpans have been coated with Por 15, and the fuel tank has been re-lined with Por 15 Tank Re-liner. The front 1/3 of the car has already been painted (I got a new spray gun and couldn't wait to try it out). The colors are 1960's VW colors: Ruby Red & Fontana Gray. There is a small dent in the drivers' front fender just behind the headlight pod. My son knocked a 4x4 on it while he was getting out his go-cart. I guess that will teach me to keep wood standing on end next to a car. The dent is small and can easily be repaired. This car has new tires all the way around, including the spare. New rear pop-out window seals as well as rear window seal. All glass is original except the windshield, which has a chip in the drivers' upper left. The driver side door glass and mechanism are out, the passenger is still in the door but unbolted. It has a jack and wiper fluid tank. The engine compartment has been fitted with new tar boards. It sports an electric fuel pump (alot more reliable). The transaxle is still in the car and was in working condition when garaged, although the gears were a little loose. The engine in it was a 1600 single port. It has been torn down to be rebuilt, but the case doesn't look like it could take another build. The case and all of the engine parts(not pictured) come with the car. The interior has been stripped out. I believe the sit covers to be original with the original "horse hair" padding. The speedo, fuel gauge, and radio work. The radio IS NOT a VW radio. It is a period radio with ivory knobs and buttons, and looks pretty good. I do not have the glove compartment chrome trim. The heater tube flaps work great as do the vents in the front kicker. I also have a new carpet set (Gray) that comes with the car. It is not pictured, and has been folded in my garage for 5 years. All of the parts in the pics come with this car. There are many, many original parts as well as a few new ones (decklid lock, window chrome trim). This car is pretty much complete. It just needs to be put back together. I will also include the set of custom made Tweed door panels with the car. This panels are quality made with heavy duty hardboard, premium dense underlayment foam, and gray Tweed. This things are kick ass and I've got more than 30 man hours into them. That's all I can think of right now. If you have any questions, just ask. I'll check the listing everyday after work. This is a great, solid car that could be rolling down the road in no time, or restored very easily. Try and find a car of this quality out there for this price, I bet you won't. Payment is due in cash or via PayPal within 3 days of the end of the auction. If you are paying through PayPal with a credit card, you must add 3% of the total purchase price to your payment. I won't pay for your service charge. Delivery is available within a 100 mile radius of Granbury, Texas for an additional fee of $1.00 PER MILE. The delivery fee is due with payment of the car or when a suitable time frame has been reached by all parties involved. Or, of course, you can pick it up yourself for free. Delivery and Pick up are only possible on Saturdays or Sundays. THIS IS A USED CAR. THERE IS NO WARRANTY WITH THE PURCHASE OF THIS CAR. IT IS SOLD "AS IS". Thanks for your interest.
