Vehicle Detail

1968 Ford Mustang 'California Special' GT/CS. Here is a car that comes along only once in a while, come and see it if you can. This mustang was purchased new by someone here in Fresno, and has basically stayed in this town for the last fourty-two years (rust free central California). The original owners manual shows that it was purchased on 3/1/68, and has some service entries in 1968/69 in the owners manual from a company that is still in business here in town today! We even have some old registrations from the late 70s through the 80s and early 90s all addressed in Fresno. This mustang is solid and accident free. I had it looked at by a local Mustang specialist/friend and he was amazed to find the sheet metal to be all original. The car still has its original California black license plate. The car is a V8 with automatic transmission and is equipped with factory a/c, power steering, and front disc brakes. All the trim on the car is complete and seems to be original from when the car was new. Also, this is a early production car that still has its ultra rare original Marchal fog lights, floating brackets and stock grill (I'm told that this setup alone is worth $1500-$2000). The car is the original lime gold color, the paint looks close to a factory finish but is not the original paint. The body is very nice, no evidence of any filler/bondo, the car will pass the magnet test with no problem. There are some small parking lot dings etc., hardly noticeable. The floors are original and absolutely solid, the only rust is around the battery tray and that is hidden by the battery. All the rubber trim is very good. I had a pair of exhaust tips added...see last pic. As you can see from the pictures the inside and outside of the car is very nice. The car starts up easily and drives down the road and handles very well and also brakes well, no noticeable leaks. However, this car was parked for at least ten years, it was given a basic tune up, oil change and new tires by the person that we got the car from. We have driven the car no more than three to five miles. If you live locally/in town I see no problems driving the car home....any further and I would recommend testing out the car fully before driving it over an extended distance, or to protect you investment trailer the car home. Most items on the car are functioning, but not all e.g. a/c-heater, gas gauge, the car just needs a small amount of tlc to be wonderfull. Also, the headlight switch has been fixed. p.s. please look at our other sale, these two 1968 cars would make a great pair and look great in the same garage :) NOTE: 1. Please do not ask "what's the reserve", please just bid what you are willing/able to pay. If you are just curious, watch the sale and enjoy! 2. Due to multiple problems with non paying zero/low feedback bidders, we do not accept bids from such bidders unless they have contacted us first with valid contact information (ph#, e-mail). Just have had too many bad experiences with such eBayers. 3. The car is sold as-is and as equipped. However, you are welcome to come see and/or have the car inspected before the end of the auction. Payment is due in full within seven days of the end of the sale. California buyers and/or in state sales are subject to sales tax, lic. & doc. fees. In CA vehicles over ten years old are sold miles 'exempt', the mileage in this car is assumed to have turned over. Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer. On Nov-26-10 at 12:12:21 PST, seller added the following information: Nov. 26th. As requested by an overseas eBayer.....I have ordered a Marti report today, it will not be sent out untill 12/07/10. I have also requested a copy to be e-mailed to me, hopefully I'll get it before the end of the auction and will post the information. Naturally, I will give the original Marti report to the buyer of the car. Let me be clear, this car is NOT just another average eBay Mustang or a tired/neglected/beat up/dragged out of the weeds car with a quickie paint job. This is a real car with a level of verifiable history and in my opinion an investment grade car. The buyer will be getting an honest, genuine car that they will like.
