Vehicle Detail

I am listing this 1970 Pontiac GTO "Project Car" for a coworker/friend of mine. It has NO engine and NO transimission. However, the car is SOLID and being sold "as is". It has been in a garage for approximately 20 years. Mice have gotten into the upholstery, etc., so please know this car does need considerable restoration. The back seat is good, but the front buckets need restored. The center console is missing as well. All glass is original to the vehicle, none missing or broken. There is only putty found in the rear wheel wells / quarter panels, but the front wheel wells do not have any putty. There is rust visible in the trunk but it is SURFACE rust and the metal is solid. I have taken some undercarriage photos of the gas tank and again - surfact rust only. NO hood as seen in photos... Also included are the parts / pieces seen in the one or so photos - 2 adjustable front shocks, etc.... I can put you in touch via telephone with the owner if you email me for his number. What you see is what you get and I have taken lots of detailed photos to show you the body of the car. Obviously it would have to be trailered from Waterloo, Iowa, which is about 5 hours west of Chicago; 4 hours south of Minneapolis/St Paul - to give you a point of reference. Buyer is responsible for pickup and delivery of this automobile. A $500.00 good faith deposit is due via Paypal at the close of the auction. We are placing a reserve and this is an "auction" with NO Buy It Now option. Please do not hestitate to write me for the owner's phone number; more photos or any questions the photos don't show you. On Nov-08-10 at 16:05:00 PST, seller added the following information:INFORMATION REGARDING THE HOOD FOR THIS CAR I guess we got in a hurry listing the car last evening, so want to add this information about the hood ~ We DO have the original hood (seen in the first 2 pictures below) – however, at some point a previous owner had been driving the car, the hood opened up and flipped back damaging / creasing the original hood. It DOES have the “scoops” as you will see in the pictures. This hood can and will be included with the sale of the GTO. Second note: Also available by owner of the GTO are 2 Le Mans hoods, which DO NOT have the scoops, but are the same and would fit this 1970 GTO. (as seen in the last 2 pictures below). The owner has 1 – 1968 Le Mans hood and 1 – 1969 Le Mans hood. I am not sure which one he has pictured in the last 2 photos, but you get the idea…. Either one of them would obviously need body work and restoration. The owner states, “if the buyer wants the original hood for the scoops and 1 of the Le Mans hoods that is fine with him and the 2 hoods will go WITH the sale of the car.” The idea is to remove the scoops and install them on the Le Mans hood, if desired. So, the idea is that the car WILL or CAN come with the original hood, or TWO hoods, depending on what you need to restore the car. We are easy to get along with and the owner needs the room in his garage for working on another project car. See pictures below …. On Nov-08-10 at 16:37:54 PST, seller added the following information: Sorry.... I accidently submitted the hood information twice - not sure how that happened, but I apologize. The listing page won't let me delete it, so I guess we all have to live with my error - my bad.... :-(On Nov-09-10 at 18:35:26 PST, seller added the following information:1. There is some bondo in the rear quarters behind the tires and around the edge of the wheel wells. A little of the metal should probably be replaced. I can't honestly say because I'm not a body man, but I used a magnet and it didn't stick very well behind the back tires. It also looks like it might have a little bondo spot in the top rear corner of both small rear windows. That's about all that I can see for bondo on the car. 2. Doors and rocker panels are in nice shape just some mild surface rust. One rocker is dented as you can see in one of the pics. 3. It is set up for a 4 speed. 4. The car wasn't going to be set up for drag racing, its a street car. 5. There are a few small dents in the roof, see pics. Here is a couple more things that should probably be added ......... 1. The car should have a new wire harness installed because of the age and condition of the existing wires. Painless Wiring makes a nice resonably priced harness. 2. Rear bumper needs to be replaced, rechromed or stripped and repainted to match color of the car. We have more pictures if you are interested but the page is getting kinda long with all the pics - Email Me Thank you...
